After risking being unable to leave the Ghost Empire to enter the last city of the Trensoest Empire, obtaining the Hand of Order characteristic and an entire floating city, the Opposition Faction led by Angel and Klein had effectively reached its greatest strength.
These small groups, each seeking to prevent George III from becoming a god for different reasons, included an angel who was herself a Sequence 2 Balancer and could control a floating city, fighting with the power of one Sequence 1 and four Sequence 2 characteristics; three saints with distinct advantages whose combat strength exceeded Sequence 3; a Demoness of Despair who, despite being only Sequence 4, could bring about the Primordial Demoness's descent; and an uncertain number of royal demigods and saints from the Three Great Churches whose allegiances remained unclear.

Behind them were also the "old, weak, sick, and disabled" angels, such as Will, the Snake of Fate, Reinette, the headless messenger, and Pallez Zoroast. Although none but Reinette could participate in battle directly, they could still provide indirect assistance.
Once George III stepped onto the altar and accepted the people's offerings, the royal family, with only one Sequence 1, one Sequence 2, and one Sequence 3 remaining, would have no hope of defending all nine mausoleums. Amid
