Each generation of Medusa is bound to a companion soul through a secret art at birth. The current queen’s companion is a Purple Nether Flame Snake with an ancient bloodline capable of evolving into a Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python 156.

The tribe traditionally used a wisp of exotic flame divine sense to evolve its queens. During Medusa’s seclusion, raiders stole it from the ancestral hall; two elders died and another disappeared. The stolen treasure was divided into four portions, with Hai Bodong and the missing elder each possessing one 168.

Medusa later identifies the missing elder, Qing Ya, as a traitor who helped outsiders steal the tribe’s inheritance and took the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture. She holds him responsible for delaying her evolution by twenty years and bringing her people close to extinction 261.

Green Lotus Core Flame and the first alliance

Medusa enters an underground magma cavern to use the Green Lotus Core Flame for evolution. Its guardian, the Two-Headed Fire Spirit Snake, initially submits to her but attacks while she is vulnerable. The ambush destroys her shield, triggers a flame eruption, and leaves her badly injured. The green lotus’s roots then drain nearly half her Dou Qi as she attempts to seize the flame 162 164.

Nalan Chaoge initially considers attacking her, but fights the guardian after it targets him. His victory allows their encounter to become a negotiation rather than a fight. Medusa agrees to help Qing Lin train, while Nalan offers information about the missing elder 165 167 168 169.

Their evolution-protection bargain ultimately settles at six Tier 5 Demonic Cores. Medusa gives Nalan two immediately and promises the rest upon returning to her tribe. She remains underground because bringing the heavenly flame home could endanger her people, and accepts healing pills before beginning her recovery 170 171.

Evolution and the struggle over the flame

Medusa emerges with a human body and Dou Zong strength, but her soul fusion remains incomplete. Xiao Yan and Yao Chen demand the Green Lotus Core Flame; she rejects their proposed trade and condemns their attempt to seize it by force. Yao Chen exploits her competing souls and counters her Snake Seal with the Bone Spirit Cold Flame 203 204 205.

Medusa throws the flame toward Nalan’s hiding place, forcing him into the confrontation. After recognizing him beneath his disguise, she transforms into a giant python and undertakes to hold Yao Chen off for five minutes 206.

Following the confrontation, Gu He pledges never to attack the Snake-People Tribe again. Medusa reciprocates and promises that her people will remain within their borders if the Jia Ma Empire does not attack them. Nalan proposes an alliance between the two sides 212.

Recovering the stolen inheritance

Medusa entrusts her small python form to Nalan while the souls continue merging. He names it Sisi and feeds it Companion Amethyst Source. Their cooperation leads to Hai Bodong’s death and the recovery of a genuine fragment map from his hidden cave 216 219 220 221.

After Qing Lin is placed with the Snake-People Tribe for instruction by a Grand Elder, Medusa accompanies Nalan in search of the missing elder. They discover Qing Ya alive inside a staged cave trap. Nalan destroys his body, and Medusa extracts his magic core and crushes his escaping soul despite grieving for the elder she once knew 249 260 261.

The pair recover another map fragment. Medusa then leaves to pursue Xiao Yi Xian, who obtained the stolen Seven-Colored Poison Scripture. Before parting, she entrusts Nalan with both fragments and gives him python venom intended to protect him from deadly poisons 261 262.

War, rebuilding, and marriage

Medusa’s pursuit of the Poison Sect’s Xiao Yi Xian becomes a prolonged conflict. During the later invasion, the Snake-People Tribe suffers more than twenty thousand deaths, with over half its population killed or wounded. Medusa nevertheless intervenes to rescue Yun Yun and Yao Ye, using a temporary strength-enhancing secret art despite her injuries 506 507 512.

After Nalan’s return and victory, the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture is restored to the tribe. Imperial troops assist reconstruction, and peaceful relations are established between the Snake-People and the Jia Ma Empire 508 520.

Medusa asks Nalan to father an heir and later admits that she loves him. She is willing to forgo formal marriage, but the Four Great Elders argue that an unrecognized child would lack the standing to lead the Eight Tribes.
