| Five-star Dou Master | 132 | Stabilizes at this level through intensive training, Chaoge’s pills, and wind-attribute methods and skills recovered from Feng Junzi. The chapter describes her rise from Dou Zhe to this level within two months. |
| Da Dou Shi | 161 | Reaches this realm after more than a year of cultivation. Uses her increased strength and wind-attribute movement skill during the escape from Lamu’s custody. |
- Rank inconsistency: A passing reference calls her a seven-star Dou Zhe, but the subsequent academy entrance battle explicitly identifies her as six-star. No intervening breakthrough or regression is explained 66 101.
Appearance
- Build and features: Tall and graceful, with delicate features, fair skin, dark hair, and slightly upturned phoenix eyes 11 48 61.
- Clothing: Usually wears luxurious brocade robes rather than armor. One outfit consists of pale-yellow robes, a fitted belt, short yellow boots, and an elaborate phoenix-style updo with phoenix hairpins 11 48.
- Bearing: Combines royal dignity with a calm martial presence; her cool expression and unhurried approach make even Ruo Lin hesitate to draw near 11 61.
- Dragon Wing markings: After mastering Dragon Bat Sky Wings, bears a pair of black wing-shaped tattoos on her back. When activated, they become enormous black wings spanning more than twenty feet 96.
Personality
Yaoye is reserved, direct, and accustomed to command. She openly discusses an arranged marriage with Nalan Jie and gives compliments without changing her expression. Her early decisions prioritize imperial stability: she proposes sharing a marriage with Ya Fei specifically to bind the Nalan and Mittel families to the throne 13 14 61.
Her political pragmatism can be ruthless. She initially treats Chaoge and Mu Zhan as counterweights, and later orders the extermination of a supposed rebel’s nine clans before discovering that the culprit may be Chaoge. Her immediate reversal exposes how strongly personal attachment can override her official judgment 116 154.
Danger reveals both her devotion and her endurance. She abandons her pride to beg for Yao Yue’s rescue, withstands the agonizing transformation required by the Dragon Wings, and resists Mu Zhan despite being drugged and overpowered. She also shows empathy toward Qing Lin, drawing on her own experience of being judged unworthy of a gifted fiancé 72 96 124 176.
After Chaoge saves the sisters, Yaoye explicitly reconsiders her desire to control him. She instead wants to become strong enough to stand beside him and secure her grandfather’s support. Her later conduct combines that attachment with renewed military responsibility, including her promise of imperial support and her assistance to the Snake-People Tribe 78 132 203 520.
Abilities & Skills
Military Command and Political Strategy
- Commands imperial soldiers and can immediately halt their coordinated crossbow attack 47 48.
- Uses marriage proposals, admission quotas, and negotiations to secure cooperation between powerful families 14 48 57.
- Rallies Jia Ma Empire newcomers against bullying at Jia Nan Academy 101.
- Publicly frames Du Yue’s death as punishment for insulting the Nalan Family and violating the convention, restoring order and legitimizing Chaoge’s intervention 295.
- Recognizes the Poison Sect leader’s attack signal and understands the danger posed by coordinated poison warfare 508.
- Dispatches troops, helps expand Snake-People territory by several hundred kilometers, and formally ends hostilities with the tribe 520.
Observation and Anatomical Knowledge
- Claims detailed knowledge of acupuncture points, muscles, and bones. Detects Ya Fei’s smile while facing away from her by reading facial-muscle movement 13.
- Traces a false summons through several messengers and identifies its purpose: separating her from Chaoge before an attack 115 116.

Close-Quarters Combat
- Dagger fighting: Quickly studies Xiao Yu’s sword movements, slips inside her reach, and combines a dagger attack with a palm strike and kick 101.
- Sun and Moon Together: A black-tier Dou Technique used to defeat Xiao Yu 101.
- Kunai use: Attempts a concealed strike against Mu Zhan while captive; later throws an explosive-tagged kunai that kills Lamu 124 161.
- Limits: Her six-star Dou Zhe strength is sufficient to defeat Xiao Yu, a three-star Dou Zhe, but cannot bridge the gap against Hu Jia, a three-star Da Dou Shi 101.
Dragon Bat Sky Wings
- Type: Profound-tier low-grade Flying Dou Technique, also called Dragon Wing 88 93.
- Origin: Created from the wings and sealed soul of a young fifth-rank Sky Swallowing Dragon Bat. The scroll can be cultivated by only one person 93.
- Activation: Channels Dou Qi through newly formed meridian branches into the tattoos on her back; withdrawing the supply returns the wings to tattoo form 96.
- Early limitations: Initially produces weak lift and consumes too much Dou Qi for sustained flight. Brief aerial evasion against Hu Jia drains her reserves and leaves her vulnerable to capture 96 101.
- Later use: Flies during the confrontation with Mo Bass and again during the imperial conflict 173 315.
Wind-Attribute Cultivation and Movement
- Possesses wind affinity in addition to her inherited earth attribute 132.

- Snow-silkworm-silk disguise mask — Gives Chaoge a face-concealing mask originally taken from the imperial treasury by Yao Yue 204.

- Ya Fei — Fellow member of the Holy City’s Three Beauties and a political counterpart. They acknowledge their shared lack of freedom under family obligations; Ya Fei does not clearly accept Yaoye’s shared-marriage proposal 13 14.
- Ruo Lin — Academy instructor who assists her during the Dragon Wing transformation and praises her cultivation progress and willpower 96 110.
- Qing Lin — Welcomed as a friend and younger sister figure. Yaoye later supports Qing Lin’s efforts to obtain medicine for Chaoge 176 202.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Imperial Marriage Negotiations
Yaoye first appears with imperial troops after Chaoge kills Mu Lu. She initially questions Ya Fei, then accepts the political implications of the duel. She subsequently helps persuade Nalan Jie to release Chaoge, citing the Life-and-Death Pact, Ya Fei’s testimony, and compensation already provided to the Mu Family 11 13.
Her proposed marriage is tied to succession and the balance between the empire’s major families. She suggests that Ya Fei marry Chaoge alongside her so the imperial family can retain influence over both the Nalan and Mittel families 13 14.
Jia Nan Academy Recruitment and Journey
When Chaoge returns to the Holy City pursued by the Blue Eagle, Yaoye cancels the order to shoot after he identifies it as his family’s beast. She offers him an imperial admission quota on the condition that he protect her at Jia Nan Academy. Registration reveals her exceptional six-star Dou Zhe strength; she then redirects attention toward Chaoge by publicly recounting his recent achievements 47 48 63 64.
During the journey, Yaoye and Yao Yue are abducted by men hired by the Cloud Empire. Chaoge intervenes, and Yaoye pleads for her sister’s rescue. In the final confrontation with Tomiya, Chaoge’s Mind Body Switch Technique controls her briefly, enabling her to evade his counterattack and cut his throat. She subsequently tends to Chaoge and helps conceal the enemy’s true strength 71 72 77 78.
At Black Seal City, she rejects Yuan Geng’s pursuit and grows closer to Chaoge. He later gives her Dragon Bat Sky Wings, which she successfully learns despite a dangerous soul attack and meridian transformation 83 91 93 94 95 96.
Academy Conflict and Mu Zhan’s Attack
Yaoye leads the newcomers’ resistance at Jia Nan Academy, defeats Xiao Yu, and is overpowered by Hu Jia before Chaoge arrives. She later witnesses Chaoge’s apparent death while he protects her from Instructor Hank, only to discover that he has laid a counterattack 101 107.
A fabricated summons separates her from Chaoge during a coordinated attack. Mu Zhan captures her and administers Ying Chun San; she resists through deception and a concealed kunai strike. Chaoge returns with Wu Tianlang, and Yaoye is recovered. He suppresses the drug using the Evil Sealing Method, after which she openly demands his commitment 115 116 124 125 126 130.
Their relationship becomes intimate, and Chaoge subsequently recognizes her as family before Nagato. At Peace Town, he equips her with wind-attribute techniques, while she trains to become strong enough to support him 131 132 136.
Desert Search and Reunion
After a prolonged separation, Yaoye suspects that a powerful man carrying a Nalan Lion Seal in Stone Desert City is Chaoge. She leaves with Yanran despite warnings about the Mu Family and the Snake-People. Mu Chen responds by ordering her assassination 154.
Lamu’s forces imprison the two women, but their Da Dou Shi cultivation allows them to escape. Yaoye kills Lamu with an explosive-tagged kunai and shields Yanran from a poisoned bolt, surviving because of the Heavenly Silkworm Robe 161 162.
She reunites with Chaoge during the confrontation with Mo Bass. With the Mu Family threatening a coup and watching the return route, she accepts Chaoge’s plan to remain hidden for six months and secretly reassure her grandfather 173 174 176.
Recovery, Return, and Imperial Affairs
Following Chaoge’s battle with Mu Chen, Yaoye searches for him with Qing Lin. A note from Yun Yun leads her to his recovery site, where she remains with him through months of treatment. When they part, she promises imperial military support and agrees not to move against the Mu Family before his return 200 202 203.
Back in imperial affairs, Yaoye publicly supports Chaoge at the alchemist convention and recognizes the strategic danger of the Poison Sect’s coordinated attack. She later sends troops to assist the Snake-People, expands their territory, and formally establishes friendly relations between the tribe and the empire 295 508 520.
