Background / History

Kikyo is a priestess from Musashi Province who practiced medicine and exorcism. When she first joined the chat group, she was grinding herbs after being asked by a samurai lord to treat his master. 80

Fifty years before the chat group’s formation, Naraku manipulated events around her and she disappeared in flames with the Shikon Jewel. After being resurrected, she existed in a clay body sustained by dead souls; most of her soul remained elsewhere, leaving her resurrection incomplete. 88 92 163

After Erii revealed fragments of Kikyo’s original fate, Kikyo withdrew briefly but chose to confront it. She investigated Hitomi Kagetoshi’s suspected possession by Naraku and adopted a plan to gather Shikon Jewel shards while placing her own “light” within them, intending to purify Naraku and the Jewel together. 81 82

Uchiha Hikari’s arrival changed that plan. Kikyo purified the evil Qi and accumulated negative emotions within Hikari, then joined her in confronting Naraku. After Naraku was sealed, Kikyo purified the recovered Shikon Jewel fragments and agreed to continue gathering the remaining pieces. 88 92

While searching for shards with Bulma, Kikyo took Kohaku into her care and later accepted Kanade Hime’s final request to repair Mount Penglai Island’s barrier and protect its orphaned half-demon children. 124 165

Appearance

Kikyo has a delicate, fair face, dark eyes, and smooth black hair. She wears immaculate white priestess robes with scarlet hakama and carries a traditional bow and arrows; her composed presence is described as both pure and resolute. 87

  • Red-and-white priestess robes. 80 87
  • Long black hair and dark eyes. 87
  • Carries a bow and multiple quivers of arrows in combat. 87 209
  • Wears dragon-scale breastplate and gauntlets beneath her clothing when protection is needed. 160

Personality

Kikyo is quiet, intelligent, and measured. Even when faced with incomprehensible chat-group phenomena or revelations about her fate, she responds cautiously rather than impulsively. 80 81

She is compassionate but unwavering in her duty. She immediately recognized the danger posed by Hikari’s corrupted spiritual state, insisted on treating it before confronting Naraku, and continued fighting Naraku despite severe Spiritual Power depletion. 88 91

Her resurrection initially left her with a self-destructive outlook centered on ending Naraku and the Shikon Jewel at any cost. Over time, she becomes more detached from her former relationship with Inuyasha and finds new purpose in guiding others, protecting children, and restoring Mount Penglai Island. 92 119 165 202
