Background

Erii was raised in captivity by the Shiki Hachi Family as a secret weapon. Her extremely high Dragon-blood purity made her vulnerable to losing control, while isolation deprived her of ordinary life experience and contact outside the family. Anime, games, and other media became nearly her entire understanding of the outside world. 81

In early 2009, Erii joined the interdimensional chat group under the name “Little Monster.” Her knowledge of fictional works allowed her to identify aspects of other members’ worlds, but she initially struggled to distinguish projections of those worlds from reality. 81

Her constant presence in the group and habit of rereading its chat history made her loneliness apparent to the other members. Hikari eventually invited her to the Hidden Leaf Village, giving Erii her first extended experience of travel, shopping, shared meals, and companionship outside the Shiki Hachi Family. 93 94 95

Erii’s disappearance prompted Tachibana Masamune to investigate what he believed was a kidnapping. Later, Hikari exposed the family’s hidden laboratory and revealed that Erii had been intended as a sacrificial vessel in Herzog’s plan to revive and replace the White King. 95 110

A paternity test confirmed that Uesugi Yue is Erii’s biological father; Minamoto Chizuru is her brother. Erii initially found Yue’s sudden paternal enthusiasm frightening because she had little understanding of what a father was. 111
