Background / History

Lin Baichuan began as a Junior Demon Slayer of the Cangwu Demon Suppression Division. The Lu family retaliated against him by arranging a Yunshan County demon-slaying mission under Li Da, whose team had been tasked through Captain Song Gang to see him killed. Lin survived, slew the Blood Demon and Mountain Fiend, and resolved to answer lethal hostility with greater ruthlessness rather than mercy 11 31 60.

His rapid growth earned Zhao Xuanyi's recognition after the Chiyang Mountain Range incident. Zhao granted him a Demon Suppression Army assessment quota and the Five Elements Body Tempering Art, while Lin used evidence from the Lu family's ambush to turn their own scheme against them 81 82 84.

After joining the Demon Suppression Army and rising through its ranks, Lin became entangled in a prolonged conflict with the Beichen Marquisate. He destroyed the Beichen Marquisate, killed Madam Cui, later exposed Marquis Beichen Ye Linshan's collusion with Barbarians, and personally beheaded Ye Linshan outside Barbarian Suppression City 281 289 355 360 362.

The Imperial Court subsequently appointed Lin to command the Barbarian Suppression Army.
