Background and Purpose
The Demon Suppression Division operates branches across the Great Xia Dynasty, including Cangwu County, Eastern Wasteland Prefecture, Yunzhou, the Underground Abyss, and the Imperial Capital. Its headquarters generally place the Scripture Repository in their core area, reflecting the repository's importance to the organization 1 344 385 760.
Its primary mandate is to suppress demons and monsters, investigate demonic activity, apprehend suspected demons, and punish those who obstruct official operations. Its officers may treat interference with a demon apprehension as rebellion and execute obstructers without mercy 7.
The Division also uses demon-hunting as a means of cultivating human talent. Demon materials are valuable to human martial artists, and the imperial court deliberately allows demons to serve as training pressure for developing stronger warriors 161.

Demon Suppression Army
The Demon Suppression Army is the Division's elite military arm and is renowned as the organization’s trump card against demons and monsters. Its ordinary soldiers are elite members of the Division; even the weakest soldiers in Zhao Xuanyi's force had reached the Seventh-Rank Organ Forging Realm 63.
- An 800-person formation can link its auras and Sha Qi into a force capable of crushing obstacles in its path, impressing even accompanying Demon Slayer Guards 68.
- Joining the Army can occur through a recommendation or through an assessment invitation issued by a commander 68.
- The Army is divided into regular legions and special operations squads; special-operations members are regarded as elites among elites 131.
- Special operations squads receive recorded missions through official channels, rather than functioning as private forces for individual superiors 227.
- The War Heaven, Giant Axe, and Bright Light squads are recognized as the Army’s top three special operations squads; their members are First-Rank Core Condensation Realm cultivators 243.
- Though technically subordinate to the Division, the Underground Abyss Demon Suppression Army was deliberately maintained as a separate system and treated as equal to the local Division to limit Lin Baichuan’s control over military forces 348.
Resources and Facilities
- Demon Suppression Division Prison — Holds captured demons and serves as an assessment site; apprentices were assigned individual cells and ordered to kill Soldier-Tier First-Rank demons 2.
- Scripture Repositories — Store martial skills and divine abilities. The Eastern Wasteland Prefecture repository contains nearly a thousand divine abilities on its third floor alone 344 348.
- Artifact Refiners — The Division employs its own refiners, who can upgrade standard-issue weapons such as the Blood Shadow Battle Saber 129.
- Contribution Point System — Members exchange contribution points for martial skills and other resources; Lin Baichuan purchased Wind Shadow Steps and Brute Ox Fist through this system 36.
- Cloud Piercing Shuttles — Division personnel in the Nine Luminaries Star Realm operate these vessels for force deployment and transport 710.
Branches and Major Locations
- Cangwu County Branch — Lin Baichuan began here as an Apprentice Demon Slayer. The branch contains apprentice living quarters, a prison, mission hall, residential zones, and a Scripture Pavilion 1 2 36 113.
- Eastern Wasteland Prefecture Headquarters — A larger and more heavily defended headquarters than Cangwu County or the Underground Abyss branch. Its Scripture Repository is accessible to qualified three-star Demon Slaying Commandants 344 345.
- Yunzhou Demon Suppression Division — Led in part by three deputy commanders, including Mo Qianchen. It fielded dozens of Divine Ability Realm experts during the operation against the Du Family 403 401.
- Underground Abyss Branch — Established by Lin Baichuan after he received nominal directorship of the Yellow-grade Underground Abyss. Tie Zhan was appointed Deputy Director, and the branch offered triple benefits to recruit personnel 267 268.
- Imperial Capital Headquarters — Seat of Division Chief Xiao Tengkong, the Supreme Elders, and powerful hidden experts beyond the Dao Nourishing Secret Realm 760 761 763.
History
Lin Baichuan entered the Cangwu County Branch as an Apprentice Demon Slayer after passing its initial assessment. The following assessment required apprentices to enter prison cells alone and kill demons, demonstrating the Division’s harsh selection process 1 2.
The Division’s authority was publicly asserted during the pursuit of Miaoyin, a demon posing as a courtesan. Lin Baichuan declared that anyone obstructing the Division’s official demon-hunting operation would be treated as a rebel, while Lu Changkong’s interference exposed him to imprisonment and consequences for his family 7 9.
During the Earth Demon escape into the Xuan Yang Mountain Range, the Cangwu County Branch sent skilled trackers to support Zhao Xuanyi’s Demon Suppression Army. The mission highlighted the Division’s cooperation with its military arm when escaped demons threatened widespread civilian deaths 63.
After the Underground Abyss campaign, Lin Baichuan was promoted to Three-Star Demon Slaying Commandant and named Director of the Yellow-grade Underground Abyss branch, though the appointment initially carried little practical authority or benefit 267. He subsequently established a local Division branch, appointed Tie Zhan as Deputy Director, and recruited heavily from the Demon Suppression Army with triple benefits; the new branch reached 10,000 recruits within three days 268 269.
When the Underground Abyss later mutated toward a higher-tier Star Realm and faced demon and monster invasion, the Division responded to Lin Baichuan’s distress signal by dispatching reinforcements, including two high-ranking members and ten Tier 3 Demon Slayers 695.
Internal Politics
The Division is repeatedly affected by local alliances, factional disputes, and conflicts between its civil and military branches.
- Members connected to the Lu Family resented Lin Baichuan after the family’s downfall and sought punishment against him within the Cangwu County Branch 113.
- The Eleventh Commander of the Demon Suppression Army attempted to seize Lin Baichuan’s Earth Origin Pearl for inadequate compensation. Lin later killed him, alarming other Army commanders and exposing severe internal power struggles 262 266.
- The Underground Abyss Army withheld many of its divine abilities from the local Division, reflecting the deliberate separation between the two systems 348.
- By Yunzhou, the Division’s higher ranks were split into factions: one faction wanted Lin Baichuan dead, while another protected him 403.
- Xiao Tengkong attempted to recruit Lin Baichuan for a joint expedition into Lihen Heaven, but could not guarantee that the entire Division would support the alliance 760 761.
- Xiao Tengkong later transferred members of a rival internal faction to Star Realm garrison duty, a move widely seen as removing them from the center of power 762.
Conflict with Lin Baichuan
Lin Baichuan’s relationship with the Division deteriorated into open confrontation in the Imperial Capital.
Yun Shan, a Supreme Elder of the Division, launched a surprise attack on Lin Baichuan’s residence, destroying the mansion and injuring his 3,000 personal guards. Lin Baichuan repelled Yun Shan and pursued him into the Division’s stronghold 763 765.
After a stronger Division powerhouse intervened to prevent Yun Shan’s death, Lin Baichuan demanded that the Division hand over the person responsible for inciting the attack. He threatened further losses if the Division protected those involved 765.
The Supreme Elders refused to surrender Si Changfeng’s faction, citing the need to preserve the Division’s authority. Lin Baichuan consequently declared his withdrawal from the Demon Suppression Division and threatened to target his enemies should they leave the Imperial Capital 766.
Despite this rupture, later records again identify Lin Baichuan as a First-Rank Demon Slayer of the Demon Suppression Division while he serves as Commander of the Barbarian Suppression Army 586 696 806.
