Origin and Nature

Soul Beasts were born after Douluo Star's world consciousness gradually brought the Dragon God's residual Myriad Beast Hundred Forms power under control. Earlier manifestations of that power were bizarre alien species; the resulting true Soul Beasts became creatures resembling ordinary animals. 1320

Cultivation is not determined solely by age. Once a Soul Beast exceeds the hundred-thousand-year threshold, its advancement is not necessarily built entirely through the passage of time. 119

Intelligence and behavior

• Ordinary low-level Soul Beasts largely act on instinct and cannot understand complex commands. 914
• Soul Beasts with cultivation exceeding fifty thousand years can recognize the cost of fighting peers, establish temporary territories, and conserve strength for more valuable opportunities. 1140
• Hundred-thousand-year Soul Beasts possess intelligence considered no different from that of humans. 826
• Predatory species with Devouring-based growth paths, such as the Devouring Dragon, may be feared even by other Soul Beasts because they kill and consume indiscriminately to restore power and evolve. 1053

Soul Rings, Soul Bones, and Soul Spirits

When Soul Beasts die, they can leave behind Soul Rings, and some also produce Soul Bones. Soul Masters traditionally rely on Soul Rings to continue advancing, while higher-age rings provide greater gains in Soul Power. 230 915 920

This relationship has created a fundamentally unequal symbiosis: Soul Master cultivation developed at the expense of the Soul Beast population, while complete Soul Beast extinction would eventually end the Soul Master profession as well. 917

Soul Spirit transformation

Soul Spirit technology allows a Soul Beast to cooperate with a Soul Master without its intelligence fading away. During the process, a Soul Beast's Mental Origin, Soul Imprint, refined Soul Power, and bloodline-related energy are condensed into a compatible form. 905

• A Soul Spirit can manifest in battle using its host's Soul Power and Mental Power. 956
• Soul Spirits fight with perfect coordination alongside their hosts, effectively allowing one Soul Master to outnumber an opponent of equal level. 956
• They can pass on experience and grant refined Soul Ring abilities. 956
• Certain Soul Spirits can grant their host a Second Martial Soul; Sky Dream Ice Silkworm did so for Huo Yuhao. 956
• Bear Lord became Huo Yuhao's Soul Spirit after its death, with its remnant soul merged into its Soul Ring. 965 966 969

Human Relations

Historically, Soul Masters treated Soul Beasts primarily as cultivation resources. Spirit Hall regarded them as tools, confined captured Soul Beasts in Soul Hunting Forests, and maintained that only Soul Beasts remaining quietly in their forests were acceptable. 200

Shrek Academy similarly maintains Beast Pens and a Beast Fighting Arena, raising Soul Beasts for student combat assessments despite the considerable expense of preserving their wild nature, diets, and containment. 239 240

The balance between humans and Soul Beasts became increasingly unstable as Soul Tool technology expanded. During the Beast Tide against Shrek City, long-range Soul Tool bombardment devastated tightly packed Soul Beast forces from several kilometers away—an unfamiliar form of warfare to most Soul Beasts. 915

Societies and Territories

High-level Soul Beasts can organize Beast Tides, but sustaining such armies is difficult. Millions of deployed Soul Beasts require food and water, while low-level ten- and hundred-year Soul Beasts may be driven forward as both vanguards and emergency food reserves. 837 914 934

Beast Tide against Shrek City

Di Tian launched a large-scale Beast Tide in response to the Soul Spirit system, human Soul Tool development, and the perceived threat posed by Tang Wulin. 836 911

• The first waves relied heavily on low-cultivation Soul Beasts, which suffered catastrophic casualties under Shrek City's artillery. 914 915
• Bi Ji's mass healing restored wounded Soul Beasts and even melted battlefield Soul Rings to fuel her jade-green healing light. 917
• The assault eventually escalated to powerful Soul Beasts above fifty thousand years of cultivation, including numerous hundred-thousand-year combatants. 936
• Shrek City and its allies repelled the Beast Tide, killing more than four hundred thousand Soul Beasts from the Star Dou Great Forest. Animal-type Soul Beasts suffered especially severe losses. 955 964

• Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Hound — A rare, nearly extinct five-hundred-year predator resembling a spotted hyena, with lynx-like ears, emerald eyes, gray spinal fibers, and extraordinary burst speed. Its abilities heighten reaction speed and forcibly overdraft stamina, making opponents appear to move in slow motion. 73 74 76 77
• Sky Dream Ice Silkworm — A Spirit- and ice-attributed million-year Soul Beast that became Huo Yuhao's Soul Spirit and granted him a Second Martial Soul. 78 81 83 956

• Titan Snow Demon — A massive humanoid species of the Far North Land, distinguished by snow-white fur, bluish-gray skin, enormous fangs, and immense physical strength. 873 909
• Devouring Dragon — A heavily scaled Earth Dragon known as a miniature Tyrant Dragon. Its innate skill, Devour Heaven and Earth, restores its expenditure and enables evolution through consuming slain prey. 1053
• Dark Demon Evil God Tiger — A six-attribute mutated Soul Beast possessing darkness, space, time, lightning, strength, and wind. It can drag targets into a special space and regress a Soul Master's age to six. 549
• Dark Blue Silver Emperor — A top-tier plant-type Soul Beast created through Evil God's Blessing. An ancient specimen once covered one percent of a Soul Beast Forest and reduced all life within it to blood for nourishment. 1183 1184
