Bibi Dong was once kind and gentle. Her teacher, Qian Xun Ji, sexually abused her, leaving a trauma that continued to affect her emotional stability and pursuit of the Rakshasa inheritance. She later reveals that she killed him; Tang Hao's earlier attack had severely wounded him 88 139 156 169.

Her hatred extends to Spirit Hall's Angel Family. Qian Renxue, her daughter with Qian Xun Ji, grows up feeling unwanted and repeatedly seeks an explanation for her mother's rejection. Bibi Dong's wish to become stronger and wield greater authority stems partly from her determination never to have her fate controlled again 150 156 169.

Bibi Dong also carries a longstanding attachment to Yu Xiaogang and supports his martial-soul theories. When he visits after twenty years apart, she briefly hopes for reconciliation, only to discover that he wants her knowledge to protect Tang San 48 101.
