Xiong Jiany burst out laughing. "CEO Lu spends money like water in the competition, yet he's so stingy when betting on his own sect. Don't tell me you lack confidence?"
Lu Chengwen said, "Small bets are for fun. If I put up my entire fortune, could you afford to match it?"
That single remark left Xiong Jiany speechless.

At that moment, Zhao Ritian got excited and sprang to his feet. "I'll bet ten million! Yan Zhao Sect will take down the Xiong Jian Sect three-on-one!"
Lu Chengwen turned to look at him. "Do you have ten million?"
"No!" Zhao Ritian answered without hesitation.
"Then how are you betting?"
"You lend it to me!"
Lu Chengwen looked at him. "Small bets are for fun, big bets hurt the body. I'll lend you a hundred bucks. Just play around with that."
"No!" Zhao Ritian waved a grand hand. "This represents my confidence in our Yan Zhao Sect! We absolutely cannot let these three guys outshine us! Bet a hundred bucks? Anyone who didn't know better would think we were afraid of the Xiong Jian Sect!"
Lu Chengwen pulled Zhao Ritian aside and spoke in the kind of voice that was deliberately quiet because he did not want others to hear, yet loud enough to ensure the three Xiong brothers across from them could hear every word clearly:
"I only started this betting pool on the spur of the moment to fend off these three guys' provocation and muddle through this situation. I don't actually think we can take them three-on-one. Wake up. The Xiong Jian Sect people look pretty formidable, so settle down."
"I'm not afraid!" Zhao Ritian said.
