Background / History

Zhao Ritian descended from the mountain after being raised and taught by three master nuns. They considered his unusual True Qi and pure, straightforward temperament exceptional, but could no longer guide his cultivation once it reached a certain point; he needed experience and resources from the wider martial world. 274 787

His first venture went disastrously. Pan Meifeng defeated him and destroyed his cultivation after he challenged her authority. His masters later repaired his Dantian and Qi Sea, restoring his strength; the ordeal also awakened the potential of his exclusive inner art, Benevolent God's Return. 281 423 787

Upon returning to Xuecheng, Zhao became embroiled in the rivalry between Lu Chengwen and Long Aotian. Initially acting independently and attempting to use Xu Xuejiao in a staged rescue, he was subsequently forced to lead Chariot Heavenly King, Dare-to-Die Heavenly King, and Chu Bai while holding their antidotes. 440 441 442

His relationship with Lu Chengwen gradually shifted from hostility to volatile cooperation. Lu desperately tried to save Zhao when the Dragon Pattern Nails left him dying, while Hua Xuening refined the Nails and saved his life. 739 740

Zhao later fought as the Yan Zhao Sect's vanguard during its match against Xiong Jian Sect, proving himself as the sect's hidden trump card. His tournament experiences strengthened his True Qi and led to his mastery of Lushan Rising Dragon Fist. 1000 1002 1007 1064

The Fishing Elder later accepted Zhao as a disciple alongside Mo Zigui. Zhao refused to abandon Yan Zhao Sect or recognize Mo Zigui as his Senior Disciple Brother, so the Fishing Elder permitted him to remain only a nominal outer disciple. 1295 1298

Appearance

Zhao is a rugged young man with bright, piercing eyes and a sturdy physique. After prolonged battles, he is often depicted bare-chested, scarred, and covered in cuts or scabs rather than subdued by his injuries. 423 938

  • Rugged appearance and sharp, bright eyes. 423
  • Large, spirited eyes and a notably robust build. 938
  • Frequently fights while heavily injured or bloodied. 1065 1883
  • Can manifest the silver-colored White Cloud Armor over his body. 1519 1545

Personality

Zhao is loud, proud, and intensely convinced of his own destiny. He routinely calls himself the Child of Destiny, believes he is qualified to become Number One Under Heaven, and seeks admiration for his talent and heroism. The Mirror of Inner Demons revealed that beneath this confidence lies a strong desire for recognition, authority, and validation from his fellow disciples. 423 1503

Despite his boastfulness, Zhao has a direct moral code. He is loyal to Yan Zhao Sect, refuses to abandon his roots for advancement, and repeatedly acts when he believes someone needs protection—even when doing so is dangerous or strategically foolish. 1065 1298 1349

His ordinary judgment is frequently poor: he misreads situations, provokes powerful people, and charges into plans without preparation. In combat, however, he becomes remarkably observant and calculating, capable of identifying weaknesses, adapting to unfamiliar weapons, and using deception against stronger opponents. 1575 2296 2345 2346
