Yanqing's Companion Mission begins shortly after the Stellaron outbreak, when he pursues Blade alone using a Trail-Marking Jade Buckle to preserve his investigation record. His confidence as a young Cloud-Knight prodigy is clear from the outset. 55

While tracking Blade, Yanqing encounters Jingliu and initially suspects her of criminal behavior. He offers to escort her because he mistakenly believes her blindfold means she cannot see, privately regretting that she will not witness his sword dance. 55 56

Jingliu challenges Yanqing's swordsmanship and courage. Though her killing intent destroys much of his arrogance, he refuses to retreat and survives her test by blocking her strike with everything he has. 56 57

Blade and Dan Heng Pursuit

Yanqing later interrupts Blade's attempt to attack Dan Heng, intending to apprehend both Xianzhou fugitives. His confidence leads him to confront a situation beyond his experience, and Blade exploits his dodge to strike Dan Heng instead. 67

When Yanqing reflects on the incident, Jing Yuan explains that he should have ensured civilian safety and summoned the Cloud Knights for backup rather than trying to capture both dangerous opponents alone. 67

Year Yang Melting Torch Incident

The Year Yang Melting Torch exploits Yanqing's frustration over past defeats and tempts him with promises of strength beyond Blade, Dan Heng, and Jingliu. Under its influence, he displays enough force to reduce his sparring opponents to 4 HP. 133 134

Yanqing ultimately rejects the entity's philosophy of killing for victory. Rather than challenge Jing Yuan, he turns his blade on the Melting Torch and chooses to fight the sword formation that manipulated him. 134

Martial Arts Ceremony

As the Luofu prepares for the Stellar Martial Arts Ceremony, Yanqing serves as host, investigator, and intended arena defender. During a Bu Li Ren attack, Yun Li assists him but takes one of his flying swords, beginning their contentious rivalry. 257 258

The pair's dispute shifts into competition, cooperation, and mutual respect. They eliminate monsters together, protect the Jing Feng Ship, jointly mentor March 7th, and debate the meaning of swords and swordsmanship. 263 267 268

Battle Against Hu Lei

Yanqing relinquishes his role as defending champion after Hu Lei escapes, judging the Luofu's security more important than a public arena match. 295

On the Jing Feng Ship, he, Yun Li, and March 7th hold Hu Lei at the arena until reinforcements arrive. After Hu Lei breaks Yanqing's sword, Yanqing reaches enlightenment, reproduces Jingliu's Illuminate Ten Thousand Rivers, and freezes the war master long enough to turn the battle. 302 303

Fei Xiao praises the three young fighters for defeating Hu Lei together and later encourages Yanqing to travel beyond the Luofu to broaden his horizons. 303 325

Ceremony Match and Departure

Yanqing eventually faces Luca at the Martial Arts Ceremony. After nearly disabling Luca's Iron Arm with Heavenly River Downpour, he sets aside his sword and finishes the match through hand-to-hand combat. 323

Following the ceremony, Yanqing and Yun Li promise to meet again in the Zhu Ming Xianzhou for a fair duel. Yanqing also states that he intends to travel widely after the battle. 326
