Background / History
Jing Yuan trained as a Cloud Knight under the former Luofu Sword Master, Jingliu. Her instruction was severe: she demanded that he never loosen his grip on his weapon or let his stance collapse. 42
When Jingliu became Mara-Struck, she had already told Jing Yuan that he must show no mercy if that day came. He ultimately fought and defeated his fallen master despite his hesitation, fulfilling her final lesson at immense personal cost. 43
He was once one of the Five Companions of the Cloud alongside Jingliu, Dan Feng, Blade, and Bai Heng. After the others were lost, exiled, or became fugitives in the aftermath of the Imbibitor Lunae incident, Jing Yuan remained on the Luofu carrying the memories and consequences of their shared past. 35 113
After the Five Companions faded from history, the Marshal entrusted Jing Yuan with the Luofu. General Huai Yan credits him with defeating the monsters of Talasa, relieving the siege of the Jade Palace Xianzhou, and destroying a Demon Star summoned by Abundance worshippers. 265
Appearance
Jing Yuan is a white-haired man with golden eyes. He commonly presents himself with an unhurried, relaxed demeanor, though his expression becomes visibly somber when confronted with the fate of his former comrades. 43 131
- White hair and golden eyes. 43
- Wields a Formation Blade. 81
- His younger appearance is preserved in memories of his time as a Cloud Knight. 324
- Keeps a pet cat and is depicted living at a slower pace than General Fei Xiao. 309
Personality
Jing Yuan combines an outwardly leisurely manner with careful foresight. He is widely praised for long-term planning, with his battlefield strategy compared to arranging pieces across a galactic chessboard. 37
He is an adept diplomat who prefers defusing conflict through measured language rather than force. He smoothed over Yun Li's offense toward Yanqing, redirected Huai Yan's probing remarks about Dan Heng, and handled Ling Sha's accusations without openly escalating their exchange. 259 265 296
Despite his composure, Jing Yuan is deeply affected by the loss of his old friends and by the burdens of office. He regrets Jingliu's path, feels loneliness when seeing Dan Heng and Blade, and reflects on the criticism directed at him by the Alliance. 63 110 265
He is a considerate mentor. He encourages Yanqing's achievements, corrects his recklessness, and prioritizes the safety of younger people over their pride or desire for battle. 67 68 134
Abilities & Skills
Divine General's Manifestation
Jing Yuan can summon the Divine General's Manifestation, a massive golden spirit that serves as the centerpiece of his combat power. It was used to suppress the Year Yang Liaoyuan and to strike at Phantylia's true form through her Mental Link with Jing Yuan. 129 70
- In his playable incarnation, his Skill adds two attack layers and his Ultimate adds three layers to the Manifestation, up to a maximum of ten. 47
- Each layer increases the Manifestation's damage and action speed. 47
- If Jing Yuan is controlled before the Manifestation acts, it retains its layers but skips that turn. 47
- He used the Manifestation to overpower Fu Yan during their chess match. 136
- During the battle against Phantylia, Jing Yuan deliberately allowed himself to be bound and mentally linked to her so the Manifestation could attack her true form. 70
Military Strategy and Command
As Divine General, Jing Yuan commands the Luofu's forces and is known for winning through planning as much as direct strength. 37 131
- He identified signs of Tingyun's possible connection to Phantylia before the truth was openly confirmed. 40
- He gambled on Dan Heng recovering the Dragon Lord's memories to resolve the Jianmu crisis. 68
- He provoked Phantylia into forming a Mental Link, turning her attempt to corrupt him into an opening for a counterattack. 70
- He proceeded with the Martial Arts Ceremony despite Hu Lei's threat, using it as a trap to expose and eliminate infiltrating Bu Li Ren. 272 302
- He investigates threats personally when necessary, including the Prison of Imprisonment breach and the Dragon Masters' suspected involvement in the Luofu's unrest. 295 296
Swordsmanship
Jing Yuan received his foundational sword training from Jingliu and retains enough experience to recognize and evaluate her techniques when Yanqing uses them. 42 68
- He trained Yanqing in swordsmanship and teaches him to prioritize safety and reinforcements over rash pursuit. 67
- He recognizes Yanqing's techniques as traces of Jingliu's sword art. 68
- His own harsh training under Jingliu left him reluctant to discuss how often he was defeated by his master. 269
Playable Character
Jing Yuan's in-game version is a Lightning, Erudition Path main damage dealer, contrary to early expectations that the Hunt Envoy would be assigned to the Hunt Path. 29 46 47
- His combat kit centers on building attacks for the Divine General's Manifestation. 47
- His Ultimate is titled “My Body is Light!” 47
- Later support for summon-based mechanics significantly improved his usage in Memory of Chaos, where he reached a 67.5% usage rate. 366
