Xiao Wu lived at Mirror Lake in the Star Dou Forest with her mother, Da Ming, and Er Ming. Before becoming human, she could sense her mother even while the latter was still outside the forest, allowing her to guide her safely back to Mirror Lake. She delayed her own transformation because she wanted to remain strong enough to protect her mother. 168

Gu Ziyi's Spirit Hall expedition targeted the group after locating Xiao Wu's mother. With her mother captured, Xiao Wu, Da Ming, and Er Ming were pressured into negotiating with Spirit Hall. Xiaotao's testimony—that Gu Ziyi had refused her 100,000-year sacrifice and promoted Self-Created Soul Rings—convinced the group that cooperation was their best remaining option. 168 170

Transformation and Entry into Spirit Hall

Following the agreement, Xiao Wu transformed into a human. Though initially furious at Gu Ziyi over Da Ming and Er Ming's impending sacrifices, she and her mother formally joined Spirit Hall.
