Background / History

Qian Xunji served as the Pope of Spirit Hall and was the son of its Grand Elder, Qian Daoliu. He became a Titled Douluo before age fifty and later succeeded his father as Pope. 35 47

Two years before Gu Ziyi learned of him, Qian Xunji accepted Bibi Dong—a girl with Twin Martial Souls—as his disciple. In her second year under him, he publicly named her the Saintess of Spirit Hall. 6 33

After learning that Gu Ziyi's Purifying Heart Mantra could accelerate cultivation, he summoned Gu Ziyi to Spirit City primarily to support Bibi Dong during her crucial growth period. He investigated Gu Ziyi's background, tested his account of aiding Tang Yuehua, and personally verified the talisman's effects on both himself and Bibi Dong. 30 31 33 34

Qian Xunji found that the Purifying Heart Mantra increased Bibi Dong's cultivation speed by roughly half, helped her enter meditation more readily, and could improve learning in areas such as Martial Soul Knowledge and combat skills. He therefore accepted Gu Ziyi as his second disciple. 34 35

He later supported Gu Ziyi's research into Self-Created Soul Rings, ordered Spirit Hall personnel to investigate the method, and kept the preliminary findings confidential. While investigating Sea God Island, Qian Xunji fought the island's Saint Pillar Guardians and accepted the Black Level Six Trials. He completed the first five trials in half a month, but his sixth trial was completed automatically, making him the Sixth Saint Pillar Guardian and binding him to the island. 136

Qian Daoliu attempted to retrieve him but was defeated by Bo Saixi and learned that Qian Xunji's confinement was the Sea God's will.
