Background / History

Lin Xian conceived the Infinite Train Project during the expanding Dark Tide and approaching polar night. His aim was not merely transport: the train would be a moving refuge capable of carrying survivors beyond the encroaching darkness. His Mechanical Heart made the plan viable by allowing him to operate, repair, scan, and directly power machinery through his own energy. 1 2

The train developed from a survival vehicle into a fortified convoy. It departed North Bay Station, later gained a Gemini 11R nuclear-powered locomotive, armor, weapons, surveillance systems, and additional carriages. By the time it joined forces with other survivor groups after the polar night, the combined configuration exceeded 800 meters and 27 carriages. 46 126 174 334

The Infinite subsequently became a deep-sea-capable vessel. Lin Xian upgraded its cabins and propulsion for submersion before it survived a volcanic detonation, descended beneath the Giant Ocean God, and traversed the Silent Abyss Vortex Channel alongside the North Wind 09 nuclear submarine. 424 473 476 477

After Lin Xian's displacement into the Scarlet World, he reveals and restarts the Infinite to search for and rescue his separated convoy. With only Lin Xian and KIKI aboard at first, the train enters the scarlet fog despite lacking several of its usual protective artifacts. 526

Appearance

The Infinite is a massive black armored train whose silhouette is repeatedly likened to a steel beast or dragon. Its exterior has evolved from improvised fortification into silver-black modular armor, while its interior functions as a mobile settlement with living, logistics, medical, research, combat, and control spaces. 30 274 334
