Background / History

Harada and Yamato Shuichiro formed a catcher-pitcher battery in Little League, sharing victories, losses, and a vow to reach Japan’s best scenery together. Both received invitations from Inashiro, but Shuichiro chose the academically prestigious To Akitsudai after deciding his baseball talent had limits. The two did not meet on the field again for nearly three years. 49 56

Before the novel’s main summer campaign, Harada helped integrate Inajitsu’s younger core—including Narumiya Mei, Carlos, Shirakawa, and Yamaoka—into a First String that had displaced established third-year players.
