Background / History
Mu Ge originally used dreams as a private space to meet with his daughters across distance. After discovering that his constructed dreams could remain indefinitely, he began developing the concept into a permanent world accessible to other living beings 160 172.
During his return from Sea God Island, Mu Ge spent half a month simulating a viable method for a continent-scale Dream World. He could initially cover only a range of one hundred li, so he designed the realm to absorb limited amounts of entrants’ Soul Power and mental power. Blue Silver Kings were intended to serve as distributed signal stations, allowing access to spread through their Blue Silver Grass networks 180.
Mu Ge established the first large-scale version over Heaven Dou Imperial City. He taught the Blue Silver Kings the entry method, allowed their spirit bodies to assume human form inside, and stationed the Simulator Martial Soul within the realm to keep it functioning 189. Blue Tyrant Academy became the first major public access point, presenting entry as a secret technique connected to an ancient hidden realm 190.
The Dream World spread rapidly after its secret technique leaked beyond the academy. Mu Ge then added Soul Master Duels and valuable cultivation-method rewards to draw in stronger Soul Masters, whose participation expanded the realm and supplied more Martial Soul information for him to comprehend 191 193 201.
Environment and Access
The Dream World resembles reality closely enough that its landscapes, cities, buildings, plants, and arenas can be mistaken for the physical world. Newly formed or incomplete areas are reconstructed from the memories of incoming users 189.
- Entry requires knowledge of a secret technique and being within the Dream World’s current coverage range 180 191.
- Entrants retain awareness of their actions rather than experiencing an ordinary unconscious dream 190.
- Users can voluntarily leave by dispelling their dream, returning their consciousness to their physical bodies 191.
- The realm can recreate locations from reality, including Soul Arenas and Sea God Hall 202 268.
- Mu Ge can reshape terrain and distort space at will within the Dream World 253.
- Blue Silver Kings and other soul-beast spirits may take human form within it 189 215.
Functions
Safe Combat and Environmental Simulation
The Dream World provides a consequence-free environment for training, environmental simulation, and combat.
- Injuries sustained inside do not directly affect the entrant’s real body 190.
- Death within the realm does not cause true death, though it severely drains spiritual power 202 206.
- Its Soul Arenas allow combatants to fight without holding back over the risk of killing opponents 202.
- Blue Tyrant Academy initially limits students to two hours per day due to mental-power consumption 190.
Soul Master Duels
Mu Ge uses competitive events to attract users and expand the Dream World.
- Duels are divided by Soul Master rank and later include solo, two-person, and team formats 193 201.
- Rewards have included the Soul Power Cultivation Art, Soul Power Body Refinement Technique, and Mental Power Cultivation Art 193 201.
- Titled Douluo-level matches make the Dream World a major venue for high-level combat observation 203 206.
- Mu Ge later replaces recurring duels with Rankings 207.
Rankings and System
After a repair shutdown, the Dream World gains a system modeled around communication and ranked challenges.
- Users can add friends, send private messages, form group chats, use the World Channel, and trade 227.
- Rankings are divided by cultivation level; users may challenge others for position and rewards 227.
- Rewards include Enlightenment Time, which allows users to rapidly improve mastery of Soul Skills and potentially develop Self-Created Soul Skills 219 228.
- Important messages from Titled Douluo-level figures or above can be pinned, highlighted, and broadcast through the system 275.
Cultivation and Information Repository
The Dream World gathers information from its users as they enter.
- It absorbs limited mental power and Soul Power from entrants; the consumed energy can be restored through cultivation and rest 180.
- Mu Ge uses the collected Martial Soul information to comprehend, simulate, and eventually counter or create Martial Souls 201 207.
- The realm’s cultivation techniques can be practiced in reality, not merely within dreams 273.
- Its communication system greatly surpasses conventional long-distance messaging methods in speed and convenience 228.
Faith Collection
After becoming a god, Mu Ge uses the Dream World as a faith-gathering network.
- On the Sun Moon Continent, statues of the “Dream God” are placed over cities; users bow to them and generate faith through their gratitude for the realm’s benefits 272 273.
- The same statue system is later implemented across Douluo Continent 296.
- Mu Ge openly claims the Dream God identity to collect Power of Faith for the creation of his own godhood 296 299.
Limitations and Vulnerabilities
- The Simulator Martial Soul must remain inside to maintain the Dream World; removing it causes the realm to collapse 180 189.
- Entry consumes mental or spiritual power, preventing most users from remaining indefinitely 190 242.
- A user’s physical body remains vulnerable while their consciousness is inside unless protected in reality 191.
- Tang Hao damages the realm badly enough to create a spatial rift, forcing a temporary shutdown and later repairs 213 219.
- Opening Bo Saixi’s Sea God Ninth Trial consumes one-tenth of the Dream World’s energy, temporarily reducing its available power 268 271.
- At the end of the story, those who do not believe in Mu Ge as the Dream God are barred from entry 301.
Relationships
- Mu Ge — creator, administrator, and primary beneficiary; he maintains the realm through the Simulator Martial Soul, draws power and Martial Soul data from users, and later uses it to gather faith 189 201 253 296.
- Simulator Martial Soul — the Dream World’s operational core; it must remain within the realm for it to function 189.
- Blue Silver Kings — early foundation points and energy contributors; Mu Ge teaches them the entry technique and grants them human forms inside the realm 189.
- Da Ming and Er Ming — their souls become the Dream World’s guardian divine beasts after their sacrifice to Mu Ge 215.
- Bibi Dong — receives shared permissions, allowing her to perceive the Dream World’s full scope 253.
- Bo Saixi — receives authority to understand the realm and later spreads access among sea soul beasts 268 271.
- Soul Masters — principal users, competitors, energy suppliers, data sources, and later followers of the Dream God 193 227 296.
- Sea soul beasts — admitted after Mu Ge becomes Sea God; their large population greatly accelerates expansion across the ocean 271.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Public Launch
Mu Ge initially markets the Dream World through Blue Tyrant Academy as an ancient secret realm rather than admitting that he created it. The controlled release is meant to make Soul Masters seek entry voluntarily rather than distrust a free public offer 190.
Soul Master Duel Era
The Soul Master Duels transform the realm from a training ground into a continent-wide attraction. Their rare cultivation-method rewards and safe high-level battles bring sects, academies, and Titled Douluo into the Dream World in large numbers 193 201 203.
Tang Hao’s Attack
Tang Hao attacks the Dream World after witnessing Ah Yin, Mu Ge, and Xiao Ai together. His strike creates a spatial rift; Mu Ge repairs it, then closes the realm temporarily to reinforce its defenses and redesign its future systems 213 219.
Rankings and Continental Network
Upon reopening, the Dream World expands across the Heaven Dou Empire, Star Luo Empire, and Spirit Hall territory. The new system, World Channel, social features, Rankings, and Enlightenment Time make it a central communication and cultivation platform for Soul Masters 227 228.
Ocean and Sun Moon Continent Expansion
Mu Ge uses his Sea God authority to spread access among sea soul beasts, replenishing the energy expended on Bo Saixi’s trial and accelerating maritime expansion. He subsequently brings the Sun Moon Continent under the Dream World’s coverage and establishes the Dream God faith system there 271 272.
Dream God Network
Mu Ge restarts the Dream World across Douluo Continent with statues proclaiming him the Dream God. Though he initially uses the title before truly possessing a Dream God godhood, the resulting faith becomes the basis for creating his own divine position 296 299.
Trivia
- Many early users believe the Dream World is an inheritance realm left behind by a god because they consider its scale impossible for a Soul Master to create 191 216.
- Its closure causes widespread withdrawal-like frustration among users, especially after they become accustomed to the World Channel and long-distance communication 226 267.
- Mu Ge compares the Dream World’s potential collapse and reconstruction to a “server crash” 180.
