Background / History

Slimes are low-tier Demonic Beasts native to the Swamp Forest. Ordinary slimes survive by absorbing sunlight and swamp water, while the larvae of Mud Swamp Worms inhabit and help clean slime nests by feeding on slime waste. 2

A slime begins around the size of a dewdrop and can grow to approximately the size of a human head. They live in underground nests supported by roots and slime gel, where a Slime Mother protects her brood and nourishes young slimes with nutrient-rich gel. 2

Chen Yu is an exceptional slime whose consciousness is shared with a human body in Xuxuantian. Unlike ordinary slimes, his slime body possesses Devour and Digest, allowing him to hunt Demonic Beasts, record their traits, and develop new talents. 1 2

Among Lizardfolk believers, slimes are regarded as descendants of Putu, the Spirit of the Mire. Putu is described as an ancient guardian of the swamp whose shapeless muddy form resembles a slime. 15

Under Chen Yu's rule, slimes develop from isolated swamp creatures into the foundation of the Slime Kingdom. They receive education, specialize in skilled labor, build fortresses, cultivate crops, produce talismans and pills, and serve as envoys beyond the East Swamp. 92 137 148 190

Appearance

Slimes are gelatinous Demonic Beasts with soft, elastic bodies and small round eyes. Their bodies can flatten, rebound into shape, stretch around objects, and carry items inside their gel. 1 7 64

Personality

Ordinary slimes are timid and instinct-driven; even larger insects can frighten them into freezing in place. They nevertheless display social attachment through pheromone exchanges, clustering around familiar slimes and celebrating the return of injured or missing kin. 2 14 101

Chen Yu is notably more cunning, ambitious, and practical than ordinary slimes. He hunts strategically, experiments with newly acquired talents, and treats split individuals as scouts, translators, healers, workers, and information relays. 1 48 83 149

Slimes can alter their bodies' shape, absorb objects into their gel, and move through mud or confined spaces.
