Background / History

Kadan is a princess of the Silves Kingdom who entered a political marriage with Xue Hong, Suotuo City's lord and a member of the Barak royal family. Their statuses were considered well matched, but neither held genuine affection for the other; Xue Hong instead spent much of his time drinking and pursuing pleasure. 20

As Xue Hong's wife, Kadan holds genuine authority in Suotuo. She is the true owner of the Suotuo City Great Spirit Arena, oversees its income and operations, and commands its staff's respect. When Gu Ye began treating injured competitors, she ordered the arena to treat him with the same deference afforded to her. 24 30

Kadan and Gu Ye had been involved before his visit to the City Lord's Manor. Although Gu Ye initially intended to distance himself from her, Kadan continued pursuing him and eventually became his lover and political ally. Together, they discussed replacing Xue Hong's ambition for Barak's throne with Kadan's own claim to rule. 21 38

By the time Gu Ye left Suotuo for Heaven Dou City, Kadan had delegated the arena's routine affairs and committed herself to cultivation. She waited for Gu Ye's signal while Xue Hong returned to Barak amid the kingdom's succession struggle. 130 131
