Background

Zhu Qingyun is a member of the Zhu Clan of the Star Luo Empire and the mother of Zhu Zhuyun and Zhu Zhuqing. A past battle crippled both of her legs, leaving her wheelchair-bound and stripping her of political influence within the clan despite her Soul Sage cultivation. Unable to overturn the Zhu Clan and imperial family’s succession rules, she is forced to watch her daughters become rivals. 250 270

She did not want Zhu Zhuqing and Zhu Zhuyun to kill one another over the Star Luo imperial succession. Two years before Zhu Zhuqing’s return, Zhu Qingyun covertly helped arrange her younger daughter’s escape; Zhu Zhuyun’s apparent pursuit was part of the plan rather than a genuine attempt to kill her. 270

After Zhu Zhuyun returns to the clan, Zhu Qingyun permits her to summon Zhu Zhuqing home with a bell, hoping to see her daughter again and trusting that Gu Ye can protect her. 250

Return to the Zhu Clan

Zhu Qingyun reunites with Zhu Zhuqing when Gu Ye accompanies her to the Zhu Clan. She is initially angered and worried by Zhu Zhuqing’s relationship with Gu Ye, particularly because Zhu Zhuqing remains betrothed to Dai Mubai. She nevertheless recognizes that Gu Ye gave Zhu Zhuqing “a new life” through his training and support. 270

Gu Ye examines her legs and begins treating her. During the clan’s conflict with Zhu Zhuqing and Gu Ye, Zhu Qingyun sees Gu Ye defeat Zhu Zhenghe and stand against the Zhu Clan elders to protect her; this changes her view of him. 271 273

After Zhu Zhuqing rejects Dai Mubai’s marriage proposal, Gu Ye takes Zhu Qingyun and Zhu Zhuqing out of Star Luo City. The Star Luo Empire secretly issues warrants for all three of them. 272 276

Recovery and Blue Tyrant Academy

Gu Ye continues treating Zhu Qingyun during their flight. She gradually regains the ability to stand and walk, and later walks normally after arriving in the Balak Kingdom. 276 277 279

Upon reaching Heaven Dou City, Zhu Qingyun moves into Gu Ye’s Medical Clinic. Liu Erlong invites her to become a teacher at Blue Tyrant Academy, where Zhu Qingyun accepts a new life away from the Zhu Clan and moves into the academy’s back-mountain residence. 281 283

Following the Spirit Hall Empire’s conquest of the Star Luo Empire, Zhu Qingyun asks Gu Ye to save Zhu Zhuyun. Zhu Zhuyun subsequently joins her at Blue Tyrant Academy. 300
