As time slipped quietly by like a babbling stream, Di Kun's understanding of life grew ever deeper. His creativity poured forth like an erupting volcano, no longer limited to merely creating trees.
Within that tranquil Lotus Pond, countless tiny, fragile Water Sprites swam about merrily. Some darted between lotus leaves, while others frolicked in the clear water like a group of innocent children. Some Water Sprites would lightly swim to the shore and sprinkle the precious Three Lights Divine Water over the trees along the bank, as though it were an instinct they had been born with.
Along the shore, many Earth Spirits were also playing to their hearts' content. Whenever the Water Sprites came to water the plants, they would swiftly burrow into the earth as if playing hide-and-seek, then flee elsewhere like cunning rabbits.
As these elemental sprites multiplied and lived here, the laws between heaven and earth seemed to be quietly stirred as well. Gradually and naturally, other elemental sprites began to be born. Wind Sprites danced gracefully in the breeze, Wood Sprites flitted lightly through the woods, and there were also sprites formed from Creation Qi. Though few in number, they seemed especially unique and powerful.
These sprites each possessed their own traits, restraining one another while also depending on one another. The sprites evolved from Creation Qi were especially powerful. Not only could they restrain the other sprites, but they would often tend to the lives Di Kun had just created, seemingly full of enjoyment and satisfaction in the process.
There were even some beings that resembled Goblins. Yet unlike Goblins, they were neither evil nor ugly; instead, they were somewhat adorably foolish. These little fellows loved playing in the woods. Their natures were full of curiosity, with a touch of mischief as well. They could be called failed products of the Elf race, yet they were still a unique kind of lifeform.
Perhaps influenced by Di Kun's aura and thoughts, the vast majority of life born in this space developed in the direction of elves. They were pure and kind. Occasionally, Di Kun would feel that certain elements were still lacking, so he would use his divine sense to tell Zhou Jun to gather more materials and bring them to him.
Whenever Zhou Jun came here, he would set down the things he had painstakingly collected, then quietly observe this space Di Kun had transformed. He could not help secretly marveling at how quickly Di Kun worked, while also somewhat complaining that Di Kun summoned him so frequently that he had no time left to handle his own affairs.
These days, Zhou Jun wandered about outside all day, as if nothing could make him stop. Whenever his gaze fell upon something he did not possess, he would claim it for himself without hesitation. This behavior had already become a habit, to the point that no matter how precious the thing he saw, Zhou Jun found it difficult to suppress the urge to possess it.
Even more excessive was that, if he encountered living beings during his thefts, he would mercilessly knock them unconscious before making off with whatever he wanted. Such conduct had left all living beings of the Primordial Wilderness groaning with resentment. Rumors spread that some shady bastard and thief was causing trouble in the shadows. This shady bastard came and went like a ghost, specializing in sneak attacks when people least expected them. Nor did he limit himself to valuable items—even ordinary things were not spared. Fortunately, he had not taken the spiritual treasures from these beings, or else who knew whether these Primordial Wilderness lifeforms would abandon their fight against Ferocious Beasts just to hunt him down.
Since Zhou Jun's actions had not directly threatened anyone's life, although many people had much to say about his peculiar habits, not many truly took the matter to heart. After all, in this perilous world of the Primordial Wilderness, people's attention was mainly fixed on the enormous threat posed by the savage Ferocious Beasts.
However, if Zhou Jun continued acting so wantonly, then sooner or later, his behavior would draw everyone's vigilance. When that day came, everyone would likely fear him and live in constant unease.
Moreover, Zhou Jun had another unexpected habit—he liked rushing to places where Ferocious Beasts and Innate Lifeforms were battling to fish in troubled waters. Whenever such a battle broke out, he would always seize the chance to appear and gather up all the corpses of the fallen Ferocious Beasts and Innate Lifeforms.
Besides that, Zhou Jun would occasionally make a move against certain Ferocious Beasts. Though his strength might not have been the greatest, he could always cleverly make use of the surrounding environment and his own advantages to inflict a measure of damage upon them, hiding his traces and reducing any sign of his presence.
Even more surprisingly, Zhou Jun would sometimes venture deep into the territory of Ferocious Beasts in search of unique Innate Spiritual Roots. These Innate Spiritual Roots were often hidden in extremely dangerous places, yet Zhou Jun seemed unafraid. Instead, he was filled with curiosity and desire for them.
Standing upon this land that had once been ravaged by Ferocious Beasts, Zhou Jun felt a powerful shock rise within him. He gazed at the earth beneath his feet, as though he could feel its heartbeat and breathing. Though this land had already been devastated beyond recognition, the earth had not given up. It was slowly yet steadfastly repairing and reshaping itself.
Zhou Jun saw the torn land gradually healing, while new soil and vegetation began to grow. The power of life blossomed tenaciously amid these ruins, making one marvel at the wonders of nature. Those lives and spiritual roots that had escaped calamity were also striving to adapt to this new environment.
These lives and spiritual roots displayed astonishing adaptability. They seemed able to sense changes in their surroundings and swiftly adjust how they grew in order to better adapt to this challenging world. Some spiritual roots even underwent subtle changes under the threat of Ferocious Beasts, causing them to develop a certain allure for those beasts.
Zhou Jun noticed that some spiritual roots gave off a unique aura. This aura drew the Ferocious Beasts toward them, yet at the same time filled the beasts with a sense of reverence for those roots. Thus, these Ferocious Beasts did not continue destroying the spiritual roots, but instead chose to protect them, as though they knew that the roots held great value for them.
Zhou Jun was deeply moved by the sight before him. He realized just how powerful life's tenacity and adaptability were. Even in the face of such an immense disaster, neither the earth nor life had yielded. Instead, they continued evolving and growing. This unyielding spirit filled Zhou Jun with awe and admiration for life.
Occasionally, Zhou Jun would be seized by a whim and take away some of the lives Di Kun had created. He would carefully choose a remote, uninhabited place, then release those lives there and allow them to live freely in this relatively safe environment.
Zhou Jun would not simply leave afterward. He would leave behind a clone to silently observe the changes in these lives. The elemental sprites in particular, after Zhou Jun brought them into the Primordial Wilderness, gradually began evolving all sorts of unique forms.
Even among Water Sprites, there were obvious differences. Every Water Sprite possessed its own unique abilities and traits, which Zhou Jun found exceedingly novel.
Seeing these changes further stirred Zhou Jun's interest. He began searching everywhere for elements such as rare exotic flames, divine waters, and astral winds, bringing them back to this place so these elemental sprites would have more resources for evolution and propagation.
By chance, Zhou Jun discovered a precious piece of Breath Soil within a Blessed Land. Breath Soil possessed the miraculous property of absorbing spiritual qi and reproducing on its own, and Zhou Jun treasured it as though he had found a priceless jewel.
Without hesitation, he brought the Breath Soil back to the Creation Grotto-Heaven and placed it among the Earth Elves, hoping it could give birth to more Breath Soil Sprites. After all, if the Breath Soil could perfectly combine with the Earth Elves, then with the properties of the Breath Soil, the number of Earth Elves would certainly increase greatly.
Zhou Jun thought that, once these Breath Soil Sprites had been successfully bred, bringing them back to the Blessed Land of Wuyi Mountain Grotto-Heaven would surely allow him to develop his own territory even better. This was a rare species—Zhou Jun could not bear to leave it outside for others to obtain.
