Background / History

Tang San originated from Douluo Continent and later ascended to the God Realm, where he became one of its Five Great God Kings. Ten thousand years after the first Shrek era, he is revered on the continent as the founder of the Tang Sect and a central figure among the first Shrek Seven Devils. Shrek's historical teachings portray him as a commoner with Blue Silver Grass who rose through hard work, while Huo Yuhao regards this account as heavily whitewashed and misleading. 5 17 88 157

Huo Yuhao's knowledge of Tang San's past leads him to accuse Tang San of destroying Spirit Hall, enabling Evil Spirit Masters to proliferate, and manipulating the public record of his own achievements. A system task is later issued to expose Tang San's “hypocritical mask” and reveal the truth of Douluo Continent's history. 6 11 17

Tang San identifies Huo Yuhao as Douluo Star's Child of Destiny after observing the fortune surrounding him. Viewing that destiny as useful to his “Grand Plan of Ten Thousand Years,” he intends to recruit Huo Yuhao into the Tang Sect, make him a son-in-law through Xiao Qi, and ultimately use him for his own purposes. 2 3 157

Appearance

Tang San appears as a tall, handsome man with long blue hair. His divine-sense manifestation resembles the statues of him at Shrek Academy and usually presents a refined, gentle, and approachable expression. 151 202

  • Long blue hair. 151
  • Tall, handsome build. 151
  • Often conceals anger or killing intent behind a calm smile and courteous manner. 151 202

Personality

Tang San is patient and persuasive when manipulation can achieve his goals. He offers Huo Yuhao godhood, revenge, authority over Douluo Continent, and rapid cultivation while concealing his intention to turn him into a controllable successor. 151 152

When resisted, he becomes increasingly coercive. His failed attempts to recruit Huo Yuhao progress from enhancing Tang Sect techniques and altering Wang Dong's martial soul to forcibly entering Huo Yuhao's Sea of Spirit and later threatening Huo Yun'er's soul. 8 49 152 306

He is also politically calculating. Tang San publicly smooths over conflicts with Titan and Niu Tian by offering divine positions, while privately planning to eliminate them. He similarly approaches the God of Destruction with an expansion proposal despite previously seeking to remove him. 202 203

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruitment of Huo Yuhao

Tang San first observes Huo Yuhao because of his exceptional destiny and tries to draw him into the Tang Sect. After Huo Yuhao refuses, Tang San enhances Bei Bei's Tang Sect techniques to make the sect appear more appealing, but Huo Yuhao remains unmoved. 2 6 8 9

Tang San then decides that Xiao Qi should approach Huo Yuhao, believing that attachment to his daughter will make the Child of Destiny easier to control. 9

Hao Dong Power Manipulation

Tang San secretly modifies Wang Dong's martial soul to create perfect compatibility with Huo Yuhao. The resulting Soul Power fusion enhances their cultivation and artificially intensifies their affection, but Huo Yuhao breaks free using the Tian Xuan Gong and Primordial Beginning Power. 49 50

Conflict with the Primordial Beginning Realm

After the Primordial Beginning Shroud seals Douluo Star and blocks the God Realm's Divine Sense, Tang San and the other God Kings fail to break it. The incident prompts Tang San to seek formal authority to monitor Douluo Star more closely. 88 89

Tang San later offers Huo Yuhao Sea God inheritance in person through a divine-sense fragment. When Huo Yuhao refuses, Tang San forcibly enters his Sea of Spirit, only to be drawn into the Primordial Beginning Realm. His fragment is defeated, destroyed, and reduced to ashes alongside its escaping Divine Sense Fragment. 151 152 153 154

God Realm Scrutiny and Later Schemes

The God of Destruction confronts Tang San over his interference in the lower realm. Tang San claims he seeks a successor because he wishes to step down, but he is warned to stop meddling in Douluo Star's affairs. 155 156

Tang San continues to scheme from the God Realm, using Wang Dong'er's Brocade Sack and the prophecy surrounding her condition to lure Huo Yuhao toward the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well. Huo Yuhao recognizes the scheme and pretends to be injured while using the well's power to strengthen himself. 290 291 292

When Tang San descends another divine-sense manifestation to demand submission, Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong'er openly reject him. Huo Yuhao destroys the manifestation with the God-Slaying Spear, after which Tang San threatens to destroy Huo Yun'er's soul unless Huo Yuhao comes to the God Realm. 306

Huo Yuhao's eventual establishment of Self-made Godhood as the God of Chaos sends an aura into the God Realm and leaves Tang San stunned by the scale of his new threat. 311
