Background / History

Before becoming the composed warrior known as Fu Hua, Hua was an insecure, withdrawn girl from a martial-arts family. She practiced inherited boxing before dawn, struggled to fit into modern school life, and believed herself to be an unremarkable “country bumpkin.” A friendship with a lively girl briefly gave her a sense of belonging, but a Honkai outbreak took both that friend and Hua’s remaining family from her. She subsequently chose to join Moth Chasing Flames and fight the Honkai. 157 159 181

As a Fusion Warrior in the Previous Era, Fu Hua fought Honkai alongside Kevin and other members of Moth Chasing Flames. She resented the unit’s disbandment and Kevin’s killing of the Captain—her benefactor—after the Captain became a Herrscher. 158

Fu Hua’s extraordinarily long life made her memories an existential burden. Cangxuan and Danzhu, who cared deeply for her, encouraged her to preserve a life beyond combat and delayed the next stage of her transformation. Eventually, however, Fu Hua relied on the Feather of the Crossing to filter and remove memories in order to preserve her consciousness. 158 161

Five hundred years before the novel’s present, Fu Hua founded the Tai Xu Sword Sect on Mount Tai Xu. Her seven disciples later betrayed and nearly killed her, leaving a lasting trauma that made her distant from later attachments. 157 159 177

During the Second Honkai, Fu Hua attempted to stop Sirin by burning her own memories through the Feather of the Crossing and unleashing the Tai Xu Sword God. The attempt failed after Otto’s actions awakened Sirin, and Fu Hua lost memories of Cangxuan, Danzhu, and Cheng Lixue in the process. 177

In the reconstructed present, Fu Hua’s dojo had failed and her relationship with her disciples remained strained. After stopping two armed intruders from sabotaging MiHoYo’s server room, she accepted Ye Ming’s offer to work as the studio’s security guard. 37

Appearance

Fu Hua is a gray-haired, green-eyed woman who wears glasses. When she first arrives at MiHoYo, she is dressed in a short qipao. 37

  • Her historical Chi Yuan appearance features cherry-pink hair with crimson ends and a white qipao patterned in fiery red. 158
  • In her immortal-era portrayal, she has waist-length blue-gray hair, a white robe, a dark-green sash, and a cloud hairpin. 160
  • She is self-conscious about her slender figure, though she rejects altering her appearance through illusion as a way of avoiding reality. 40

Personality

Fu Hua is humble, principled, and highly protective of others. She intervenes against criminals without hesitation and, even after being gravely wounded by her own disciples, prioritizes the safety of Shenzhou and the Tai Xu Sword Sect over vengeance. 37 189

Her reserved demeanor conceals deep insecurity. In her youth, she feared being judged as outdated or unworthy of friendship; after centuries of loss, she became increasingly detached to protect herself from grief. 157 178 179

She is also intensely competitive. Having discovered that Honkai Impact 3rd tracks clear times and rankings, she set out to break records and became an expert player. 37

Fu Hua has difficulty verbalizing affection, but gradually accepts Kiana’s support and confronts her feelings for Ye Ming after recovering memories she had sealed away. 165 191 192

Feather of the Crossing

The Feather of the Crossing is Fu Hua’s memory-related power and the medium through which fragments of her consciousness and history persist.

  • Separates, stores, and filters memories into feather-like fragments. 157 184

  • Personal scroll — records Ye Ming as an important companion so that Fu Hua can recognize him after memory loss; it deliberately omits her feelings for him. 190

  • Ye Ming — employer, protector, and recurring companion across Fu Hua’s fragmented history. He saves her during the betrayal of the seven disciples and later helps her confront Sirin; Fu Hua eventually regains her memories of him and acts on her feelings. 188 191 192 224
  • Herrscher of Sentience / Xiao Shi — a separate consciousness inhabiting Fu Hua’s body that initially claims to be the “newer” Fu Hua. Their rivalry develops into a fragile partnership. 162 166 248
  • Kiana Kaslana — classmate and student in Tai Xu mental techniques. Kiana refuses to abandon Fu Hua within the Herrscher of Sentience’s illusion and helps her accept that she is not alone. 157 165
  • Cheng Lixue — Fu Hua’s loyal disciple and “best student.” Fu Hua’s earlier betrayal trauma made their bond difficult, but Lixue continued to protect and seek her master. 166 177 190
  • Cangxuan and Danzhu — Previous Era companions who wanted Fu Hua to have a life beyond fighting Honkai. Their loss contributed to her isolation and memory burden. 158 160 161
  • Kevin — former Moth Chasing Flames comrade. Fu Hua resents his role in killing the Captain after the Captain became a Herrscher. 158

  • Himeko — MiHoYo colleague and fellow Valkyrie-associated figure. Fu Hua’s memories also recount a formative friendship with a girl named Himeko, whose death in a Honkai outbreak pushed Hua toward Moth Chasing Flames. 37 159
