Background

Naruto was born during the Nine-Tails' Rampage, after Obito Uchiha extracted the Nine-Tails from Kushina Uzumaki. Minato Namikaze sacrificed his life to seal the beast into Naruto, while Kushina entrusted Naruto and his red-haired elder brother, Ryunosuke, to Hiruzen Sarutobi. 1

Although Naruto is the Fourth Hokage's son, the village's hatred of the Nine-Tails is transferred onto him because he is its Jinchūriki. 12 Ryunosuke repeatedly acts to shield Naruto from this stigma, most notably transforming into the Nine-Tails during the Kumogakure conflict so that others would identify him—not Naruto—as the “Demon Fox.” 222

Naruto is impulsive, outspoken, and quick to act when someone is threatened. He challenges Kankurō without a strategy, yet Sasuke's intervention highlights Naruto's willingness to confront stronger opponents rather than back down. 438
