Background / History
The Xiao Family is the surviving remnant of the once-prosperous Xiao Clan. Its ancient ancestor Xiao Xuan consumed the clan's Dou Di Bloodline in an unsuccessful attempt to reach the Dou Di realm; the clan subsequently declined, and its descendants eventually retained only a family rooted in a small Jia Ma Empire city. By Xiao Cang's era, even the family had largely forgotten its former glory. 192 216
Xiao Cang was born as a collateral descendant of the family in Wutan City. His extraordinary rise brought the previously local clan into prominence: after becoming a Dou Wang at eighteen, he returned to Wutan City and immediately became the family’s most powerful figure. His standing was so great that the patriarch and three elders considered transferring the patriarchal position to him. 1 21 28
After returning, Xiao Cang used the family as a foundation for a wider power base. He forced Wutan City’s factions to transfer their businesses, markets, and shops to the Xiao Family for one copper coin each; Jia Lie Bi’s death ended meaningful resistance. The resulting takeover gave the family control of most of the city’s commercial activity. 52 54
The family later faced a crisis when Hun Clan and Soul Hall forces came seeking the Tou She Ancient God Jade held by Xiao Zhan. Xiao Cang defended the clan, while Gu Clan experts deployed a formation over the family compound to preserve its bloodline during the confrontation. 190 192 195
Xiao Cang ultimately received the Purple-Gold Clan Mark and the remaining Dou Di Bloodline from Xiao Xuan in the Heavenly Tomb. He vowed to restore the Xiao Family’s former glory and make it the foremost family on the Dou Qi Continent. 192 216
