Background / History

Mobius was already a renowned figure in biology and genetics before earning her doctorate. Her laboratory later became the Flame-Chasers' largest and most comprehensively equipped research facility, feared by others as the “Devil's Nest.” 260 285

Her younger sister Sakura died during a prior mission; Mobius personally witnessed the death and collected what remained of her ashes. Refusing to abandon her promise to bring Sakura back, she pursued revival experiments despite repeated failures. 224 229 243

When Mobius encountered a child named Sakura in Twilight Street, the girl's voice and mannerisms convinced her that her lost sister might have returned. She covertly investigated, eventually conducting over two hundred tests; genetic data showed an 82% blood relation to her deceased sister. 229 241 242

Sakura gradually recognized Mobius as “Sister Mobius.” Their reunion transformed Mobius's priorities: she resolved to protect Sakura, listed herself as Sakura's sister in her official identity file, and struggled against anyone she believed might take Sakura away. 231 244 248 256

In a later encounter with a Sakura from another world, Mobius learned that her alternate self had subjected Sakura to 3,692 experiments, including projects derived from extreme Flame-Chaser research concepts. Despite her cold reputation, Mobius is deeply emotional where Sakura is concerned. Sakura's apparent return destabilizes her usual composure; she becomes protective, jealous of Sakura's other attachments, and determined never to lose her sister again. 229 244 248 251
