Background / History

Sakura’s original identity was Muyu, a Flame-Chaser who expected to die fighting Finality rather than survive into another era. Instead, her consciousness awakens in the body of Matou Sakura inside the Matou family cellar, recognizing it as a second transmigration into the Nasuverse. 1

Her new body is severely frail compared with her former Fusion Warrior physique. She nevertheless uses Divine Sound and combat experience to kill Matou Zouken’s worm body, though the exertion destroys her arm and prematurely ages portions of her body. 1 After consuming modified insects to recover energy, she accepts the System’s offer of a Kryptonian Bloodline, exchanging her humanity for solar-powered evolution. 2

After regaining enough strength, Sakura returns to Fuyuki, destroys Zouken and the Matou estate, then heads to Misaki City. There, she obtains King of Wrath, extracts the Fifth Magic from its user, and gains Light of Trigger through the System. 3 4

Her encounter with Nyarlathotep changes both her body and identity. Nyarlathotep seals Sakura’s memories of bullying, refines her, and helps create the Divine Body. Sakura later concludes that she no longer needs to live under the Matou name, openly taking the name Sakura. 33 36 38

Sakura’s appearance shifts with her transformations, evolutions, and incarnations rather than remaining fixed.

Personality

Sakura begins her second life as a ruthlessly pragmatic survivor. Having lost the strength she once relied on, she responds to the Matou cellar’s horrors with immediate violence and focuses on gaining enough power to challenge Finality again. 1 2 She views strength as necessary to escape a fate she refuses to accept.

Her immense growth gradually makes her detached from ordinary lives and consequences. Sakura is markedly gentler with those she accepts as family, companions, or children.
