Background / History

Di Nüfeng first appears wounded in a cave after being injured by Liu Qiushui of Asura Hall. She encounters Ling Xuanxiao while he is disguised as Murong Mo, accepts his flattery, and takes him as a servant. Her vanity—especially regarding her beauty—makes her susceptible to his careful praise. 16

Her enmity with Liu Qiushui erupts into a destructive battle atop Mount Wu Wang. Both are regarded as top-tier fiends, and their clash leaves Shushan seeking revenge after Murong Mo is presumed dead. 18

While recovering from her injuries, Di Nüfeng keeps Li Xuanxiao in the Demonic Cult as a Protector. She spends much of her time resting or playing chess with him, while her treatment of other subordinates exposes the cruelty of her rule: she keeps crippled cultivators as “human-dogs” and punishes displeasure mercilessly. 31

After expending her remaining power to escape, Di Nüfeng becomes trapped in a sealed space with Li Xuanxiao. Stripped of cultivation, treasure artifacts, and magical power, the two fight physically before being forced into a temporary alliance against the sealed space’s beasts. Their cooperation deepens during more than two months spent searching Old Turtle’s shell for the Star Flower. 98 99 100 101

Li Xuanxiao saves Di Nüfeng when she falls into an abyss pursuing the Star Flower, then uses the Poison Scripture to restore her strength. With her power recovered, she destroys Old Turtle’s shell and escapes. 102 Their relationship remains volatile: Li Xuanxiao develops conflicted feelings for her while also poisoning her, and Di Nüfeng continues to face Old Turtle while weakened. 103

Di Nüfeng later agrees to cooperate with Li Xuanxiao in an assassination plot against the Old Emperor of Great Xia, binding their arrangement with a Grand Dao oath. 199 She subsequently shields Li Xuanxiao from a Heavenly Dao tribulation, suffering severe injuries while becoming the target of the Old Emperor and two Tribulation Crossing Stage cultivators. 222 223

A betrayal by Heavenly Fiend Hall’s Deputy Cult Master leaves her politically isolated and unable to control the hall effectively. Li Xuanxiao ultimately assists her in reclaiming it, providing a detailed internal management system with illustrated explanations to help her govern. 223 256 292

By the time of the conflict at the Snake People Tribe, Di Nüfeng leads Heavenly Fiend Hall flying ships and displays Tribulation Crossing Stage cultivation against the tribe’s leaders, Mo Zi, and the Snake God. 367 Later, she re-establishes the Heavenly Fiend Hall as a major deep-sea force and celebrates her three-thousandth birthday in her Water Mansion. 471 472

Despite her pride, Di Nüfeng can adapt under pressure. Her initial hostility toward Li Xuanxiao becomes practical cooperation during their imprisonment, and she later demonstrates restraint by following his instructions rather than immediately retaliating against provocations. 101 398
