Tang San detects abnormal fluctuations in Douluo Continent's fortune and responds by awakening a Divine Sense within his daughter Xiao Qi. He is prepared to eliminate the Child of Destiny if that person cannot be controlled, placing his plans above the child's survival. 108

After learning of Huo Yuhao's Seed of the Plane, Tang San intends to seize it and become Lord of the Plane. His Divine Sense inside Wang Dong monitors Huo Yuhao, while Tang San considers using Huo Yuhao and then killing him; he also plans to erase Wang Dong's memories if necessary. 163

His preparations in the lower realm include Tang Hao, Ah Yin, Sea God Island, the Clear Sky Sect's soul beasts, and multiple strands of Divine Sense. One strand rests within the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and carries the power of three attacks. 168

Tang San later orders Sea God Island to provoke a war between Sea Soul Beasts and the Star Dou Great Forest's soul beasts. In the parallel Douluo I world, Tang San's distrust of Tang Hao grows after Dugu Bo claims that Tang Hao arranged a test of his identity. Tang San outwardly cooperates while privately deciding that he may ruthlessly turn on Tang Hao if betrayed. 305

While trying to save Oscar from the Diamond Ape, Tang San accepts Huo Yuhao's demand to surrender the Eight Spider Lances. Huo Yuhao kills the beast, removes the External Soul Bone directly from Tang San's spine, and leaves him severely weakened. 330

Tang San later faces Tang Ya and Wang Dong, whose mastery of Tang Sect arts and Blue Silver Emperor suppresses his Blue Silver Grass. Wang Dong defeats him with the Clear Sky Hammer, leaving him despondent over the gap between them. 371 372

Collapse of the ten-thousand-year plan

After the Silver Dragon King aids Huo Yuhao, Tang San loses contact with Tang Hao and Ah Yin, while his lower-realm arrangements collapse. He decides to use the Silver Dragon King's exposure to distract the God of Destruction and rebuild his plans around the soul of Huo Yuhao's mother. 557

Tang San keeps Huo Yun'er's soul in a pearl as leverage against Huo Yuhao, claiming to Xiao Wu that he had merely intended to revive her for Huo Yuhao in the future. Huo Yuhao successfully steals the soul bead, removing Tang San's primary bargaining chip. 569 570

When Xiao Wu is captured, Tang San realizes he has been manipulated and chooses to endure rather than confront Huo Yuhao directly. He resolves to wait for an opportunity to rescue her. 578
