Background

Ma Xiaotao was a renowned Inner Court student of Shrek Academy and Yan Shaozhe's disciple. Her Evil Fire Phoenix Martial Soul gave her immense destructive potential but burdened her with recurring, difficult-to-control Evil Fire; she had endured its effects for more than a decade. Her reputation in the Outer Court was severe enough to earn her the name “Flame Fiend.” 54 176

She initially sought Xu Sanshi's water-attribute power to suppress her Evil Fire, but found him incapacitated after his confrontation with Huo Yuhao. When Huo Yuhao linked his Mental Detection Sharing to her, she discovered that his spiritual power could gradually dissolve her accumulated Evil Fire, though the connection also strongly affected her state of mind. 55

After an Evil Fire episode left her unable to maintain control, Huo Yuhao subdued her with a mental attack and helped resolve the immediate outbreak. Ma Xiaotao acknowledged that she had sought him out for help and had been the one to initiate their encounter; despite her pride, she accepted responsibility for her choices. 58 60
