Nature and Cultivation

Attributes

Dou Qi has nine major attributes:

• Magical Beasts may naturally possess and cultivate multiple compatible attributes, such as the Heavenly Demon Phoenix clan's wind and fire. 452
• A Dou Zong's Dao Domain can amplify Dou Qi aligned with its Great Dao; a mismatch between Domain and attribute reduces that amplification. 373

Cultivation Methods

• Cultivation-method quality affects both the speed of cultivation and the purity of the Dou Qi produced. 145
• Low-grade methods trace only a small portion of the body's meridians. A Yellow Rank Low-Grade method may trace roughly one-twentieth of the system. 145

Uses

Dou Techniques

Dou Qi is expended to activate Dou Techniques, including offensive, defensive, movement, and flight techniques.

• Dou Qi can form armor and barriers, though sufficiently stronger attacks can shatter them. 61 393

Natural-Energy Manipulation

At the Dou Zong realm, cultivators can draw on external energy rather than relying solely on their internal reserves.

• Environmental attributes matter: fire-rich magma impedes a Lightning Attribute Dou Zong's ability to mobilize external energy until it is filtered through a Dao Domain. 461

Human Aura Contamination

Nalan Ye's Human Great Dao techniques manipulate Dou Qi by introducing Human Aura into it.

• Contaminated Dou Qi becomes chaotic and may weaken Dou Techniques, cause activation failure, damage meridians and the Dantian, or trigger backlash. 375

Limitations and Risks

• Low-realm meridians may be too weak to endure the force of medicinal pills. 17
• Excessive medicinal power can clog and stretch meridians, causing severe pain and risking long-term cultivation damage. 17
• Failure to stabilize liquefied Dou Qi during the Dou Shi breakthrough allows it to dissipate back into its gaseous state. 26
• Lightning Attribute Dou Qi is especially prone to loss of control during major breakthroughs. 205
