Was Luo Li's excuse flimsy?
Extremely flimsy.
How flimsy was it?
It was about the same as telling you eggs grew on trees and hoping you would believe it. If you didn't believe it, there was nothing she could do to stop you from throwing your life away. So, if you understood her good intentions, please repeat after her: eggs really did grow on trees.
It was the equivalent of grinding everyone's intelligence into the dirt.
Yet everyone still had to smile and stomp on it with her.
She had made it perfectly clear: she was going to blindfold you, she was going to make things difficult for you. If you didn't want to get stabbed, you could only obediently trample on your own intelligence.
Even if some of that trampled intelligence belonged to you.
That was the intimidation brought by strength.
And the right to speak that strength brought.
But when all was said and done, no matter how unpleasantly it was put, this was still a way out.
If there was a way out, take it quickly.
Don't wait until there was none left and find yourself unable to step down.
When that happened, if you still wanted to step down—or were forced down by the situation—you could only close your eyes and jump. Whether you landed in disgrace or were smashed to pieces would depend on how high the platform was. But then again, even landing in disgrace was worse than walking down the steps. Even if it looked bad, at least you would not suffer for it.
What others thought of you was one matter.
What you thought of others was another.
And what you thought of yourself was yet another.
Besides, anyone who was not an idiot knew that steps were not set out casually,
