Ning Ke is the daughter of Fifth Zuirong, the younger sister of Fifth Family head Fifth Zhongqi, and Ning Zongyuan, a Bronze Badge Constable. Her mother was originally promised to the Huo Family, but Ning Zongyuan engineered their meeting and seduced her as part of a scheme to gain status through the Fifth Family. Fifth Zhongqi uncovered the plot and had Ning Zongyuan killed; Fifth Zuirong later gave birth to Ning Ke and remained unmarried. 989 990
