Background / History

Luo Ya remembers a past life and theorizes that his innate power may be connected to a Qiongqi pendant he bought before transmigrating. Unlike a Devil Fruit power, Qiongqi is an inborn ability; Luo Ya nevertheless claimed it was the “Zoan-Zoan Fruit, Mythical Zoan, Qiongqi form” to fit into the pirate world. Its sheer potential earned him a place as an intern in the Rocks Pirates despite Rocks' dislike of children. 2

At seven years old, Luo Ya trained in swordsmanship under Golden Lion Shiki, whom he calls “Uncle Shiki.” He was present at God Valley, though he regarded himself as insignificant amid the battle between monsters. 2 18

Six years after God Valley, Luo Ya reunited with Kaido and fought him to a standstill through disaster-based warfare and inexhaustible recovery. Rather than submit to Kaido or demand Kaido's submission, he proposed that they join each other's organizations as equal outside affiliates. 29 30

Appearance

Luo Ya's appearance varies sharply between his ordinary body and Qiongqi transformations.

• In his youth, he is about 1.7 meters tall, with slightly curly black hair, exceptionally fair skin, curved eyebrows, and a naturally smiling expression; he wears noble-style robes and carries a sword. 28

Personality

Luo Ya is calculating and unusually pragmatic in his alliances. He rejects Golden Lion's offer to become his heir because Kaido treats him as an equal and shares his ambition to overthrow the World Government; he instead favors alliances whose members retain their independence. 30 77

He treats Calamity Company as a means to create wars, suffering, and therefore black energy for himself. He uses weapons sales, transportation, public opinion, and underworld contacts to make the world more chaotic, while delegating routine work because he openly dislikes office work. 64 95

Luo Ya is also capable of loyalty and protectiveness toward those he accepts. He rescues Kaido from a government laboratory, frees Abel before rescuing Kaido, and gives his subordinates opportunities to grow stronger. 43 44 95
