Handing That to the Big Shot

Today was a rare, leisurely day for Ruby. Mayona didn't disturb his sleep, nor did she ask him to cook. She didn't even come out of her room when he had finished preparing lunch. "Aren't you eating?"

"I don't want to eat."

Mayona buried her face in the cushion and mumbled. Ruby's arrival made her unsure of how to face him. This was her most vulnerable time, and she didn't want Ruby to see her like this, especially since he was a man.

"I'll be outside. Call me if you feel unwell."

Ruby didn't force Mayona and was about to leave the room.

"Ruby, I'm scared..."

Mayona's weak voice reached Ruby's ears, abruptly stopping his steps. Stripped of her Archmage aura, Mayona now looked like a crying child. The light in her eyes reflected her inner unease and fear. Ruby thought for a moment, then walked out and returned shortly with some cotton. He sat on the edge of the bed, placed the items in his hands on the nightstand, and began his task.

"Dragon, Appliance Group 31, play Tom and Jerry."

As if finding it too quiet, Ruby decided to have Dragon be of some use. Dragon had spent a long time immersed in the cultures of other worlds and had looked at many design schematics in his spare time. Because of his special abilities, Ruby had assigned numbers to these items. Dragon didn't refuse. When he descended from Ruby's head, his body transformed into a rectangular LCD screen and floated to hang on the wall.

"Wh-what is this? There's something moving inside!"

Mayona's eyes were completely captivated by the images playing on the screen. This thing seemed somewhat similar to her Memoir, but the images played by Memoir were 3D holographic projections, which were nothing like the two-dimensional animation style.

It transcended borders and races; anyone would be amused by the foolishness of that big cat. Mayona was no exception. She didn't even realize she had laughed many times without noticing.

Mayona looked at the television, then at Ruby's busy back. A strange sense of peace inexplicably arose within her. She had thought she would have to endure this time alone again, but unexpectedly, he had once again helped her in such a simple way.

"Done."

After a series of busy work, Ruby finally completed his task. After much thought, this was all he could do to help Mayona.

"What is this?"

Mayona looked at the rectangular, unknown object in Ruby's hand with a bad premonition, similar to the feeling she had when he first produced a syringe.

"Sanitary napkin. The usage is..."

Ruby held the sanitary napkin in front of Mayona, explaining its use in detail.
