"I haven't asked yet. Who is she?"
"My creditor."
Ruben's answer was as concise as ever. He quickly and clearly explained to Felosys why Mayuna had appeared and why she had stayed here.
"Oh, so something like that happened."
After hearing the story, Felosys was puzzled. There were many unreasonable parts to it, but the Dragon race's not-so-clever brain could not sort them out for the moment. After all, repaying one's debts was perfectly normal.
"By the way, Ruben, why did you help her bathe so seriously? Wouldn't it have been enough to just half-ass it?"
Mayuna turned her attention back to Ruben. In her eyes, he had brought this entirely upon himself. It was already generous of her not to spit into his bathwater, yet he had actually put body wash on her!
"Since I agreed to the terms, I had to fulfill them properly. Only if she was satisfied would she stop destroying the water source."
"Then let me ask you this. Did she give you anything in return? Money, perhaps?"
"No."
"So when you agreed to bathe her, it was because she had unreasonably occupied this water source, right? In other words, she used her superior strength to force you, right?"
"That's true, but little girl, what you're saying is a bit..."
Felosys felt that the conversation was heading in a direction unfavorable to her. To be honest, she also thought Ruben had it rough, so she had always been looking for ways to compensate him. Now that Mayuna had laid it all out, she felt rather embarrassed.
"Shut up. This wasn't a transaction; it was nothing but oppression. But things are different now. Ruben has me now. I won't let you bully him anymore."
Mayuna glared at the poisonous dragon. Although Dragons were old enough, that did not mean she could call Mayuna "little girl." Just where was she little, anyway?!
"You insignificant human, you're far too arrogant. Though I've never personally killed anyone, you've already provoked the dignity of the Dragon race... Strange, what level of mage are you? Why can't I...?"
Felosys had intended to intimidate this ignorant human before her, only to discover that the magical fluctuations she sensed from her were incredibly complex. Before she could understand what those fluctuations meant, a circular magic array carved with profound runes suddenly appeared above her head. Ten appeared in succession, each one twice as large as the one below it. The uppermost magic array was already as enormous as a mountain range.
"This is only a warning. If you insist on bullying Ruben, meteorites will fall directly onto your head."
"A Mage God..."
The surprise on Felosys's face slowly turned into a bitter expression. She had long heard that human society had produced a Mage God, but she had not expected to be unlucky enough to run into her. She recognized the magic arrays above her head. They were merely the ordinary ninth-level fire-and-earth composite spell, Meteor Descent. It did not even count as a forbidden spell. Normally, taking this attack would only leave her with a few scratches. But Mayuna's method was a completely different matter. There were ten magic arrays; once the meteorites fell, they would absorb the mana from the arrays beneath them and increase in power. She did not even dare imagine what they would become in the end.
What was even more terrifying was that Mayuna had skipped the chanting entirely, completing that dreadful spell in what seemed like a single breath. This was also the basis on which Felosys had recognized Mayuna's identity. The Mage God's reputation truly lived up to its name.
"Alright, stop scaring her. Although the cause of all this was pretty much what you said, bathing her isn't much trouble for me. It's better than having her go destroy human water sources again, isn't it?"
"Hmph."
Mayuna snorted and dismissed the magic arrays. She could have dealt with this poisonous dragon once and for all right here, but anyone could tell that the naïve guy beside her would not agree.
"Since you put it that way, I can only do my best to compensate Ruben. Dragon rules prevent me from sharing my wealth with you, but from my many years of observing humans, the two things humans like most are money and women. If you don't mind, I'll pay with my body."
Felosys said this generously. Dragons had always been associated with wealth, and their rule was that they could not share their riches with others before they died. If you had the ability, go take it yourself. If you could not take it, what kind of Dragon were you? So what else could she do? Pay with her body.
In truth, the poisonous dragon lady was still rather shy. She knew to hide her private parts while bathing, but she was not so embarrassed in human form. After all, this was not a form she used often, and if the other person was Ruben, she could accept it completely.
"Oooh, is that true?! If I could spend ** with such a top-tier woman, I'd trade ten thousand years of my life for it!"
Before Ruben could react, Dragon started shouting. In his eyes, Felosys was a top-tier woman no matter how he looked at her. Unfortunately, she was not human, but he thought watching from atop Ruben's head would be nice too.
"How long can you live, Dragon?" Ruben asked.
"Probably until humans no longer want to mate. As long as ** exists, I won't die... Ah!"
"Huh? What are you talking about? How could Ruben possibly agree to your terms? Go play by yourself."
Mayuna threw the snapped tree branch onto the ground and stepped on it, then spoke to Felosys. She understood Ruben far too well. He was a man more interested in rocks than in her!
"But Ruben seems very interested."
Felosys pointed at Ruben, who was stroking his chin in thought. She clearly had victory in hand.
"Y-you, what are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking about how likely it is for a Dragon to become pregnant after transforming into a human. I've conducted experiments. In this form, Felosys's bodily fluids contain no toxins, and her internal organs are exactly the same as a human's. She even has a uterus, so I think the chances of pregnancy should be quite high."
"Wait, wait, wait. Explain that clearly. Are you saying you agreed? To paying with her body..."
"Hm? What kind of thing is that to say? I'm not an ascetic. Why wouldn't I agree? Felosys and I have known each other for quite some time."
"But isn't that sort of thing only supposed to happen after marriage?"
"Are you some feudal-era maiden? As long as both people are willing, you can do it whenever you want."
"Fine! You bastard, you really are just like Dragon! I don't care about you anymore!"
Mayuna angrily turned her head and ignored Ruben. She could not think of any reason to stop him; she simply felt upset. As expected, the master of ** could not be any good!
"Here?"
Felosys generously pulled off her bath towel. Her mature body was like a heavy, ripe fruit waiting to be picked, and all it would take for that person to have her within reach was a nod.
"Mm... Forget it. Based on my calculations, there's a high chance you'd get pregnant."
After thinking it over, Ruben still rejected that tempting fruit. Just as he could tell Aqua before, he was not psychologically prepared to become a father yet.
"I don't mind. I don't have a mate anyway."
"There are too many unknowns about Dragons. If you returned to your true form while pregnant, what exactly would happen to the child? You don't have a mate for now, but perhaps you'll meet a Dragon you like in the future. If they discovered that you had a child with a human, it would probably be hard for them to accept."
"That's why I said I don't mind. You can just be the child's father."
"You're a long-lived Dragon. You should find another Dragon to keep you company, not a human who'll be dead by the time you wake up from a nap."
"And most importantly, I'm judging this matter too rationally. There shouldn't be any rational thought in something like this at all. The best development would be for two people to be swept away by ** under the stimulation of hormones and act on instinct. Mm."
"You really are a troublesome human."
Ruben's theory gave Felosys a headache. She truly could not understand what Ruben was thinking. Dragon, however, understood. Simply put, his partner was being difficult on purpose. If the poisonous dragon lady simply forced him down, then under the influence of hormones, he would stop thinking. But for the sake of his own life, Dragon did not point this out.
"Mayuna, let's go back to sleep."
"Hmph."
Mayuna had been listening intently to Ruben all along. Only now did she reluctantly snort and follow in Ruben's footsteps.
