Background and History
The sect inherited the legacy of the Nine Mountains Ancestor, including the incomplete Spirit Mountain Method. The method was later found to require a suitable mountain range and Spirit Vein Theory to cultivate properly; the Sect Leader’s revised version was intended to correct flaws in the Ancestor’s original work. 81 123 124
Nine Mountains Sect was once renowned within the Hundred Immortals Alliance for its thunder talismans. Its disciples could hand-draw Five-Thunder Talismans and were regarded as the Alliance’s foremost users of Profound Subtle Thunder Talismans. 90 Its Divine Firmament Thunder-Commanding True Method later became a defining inheritance, as its thunder affinity greatly amplified the sect’s talisman arts. 193
During the Great Freedom Demon Cult crisis, the sect’s disciples were forced to shelter in Thunder Pool while defending the entrance to a demonic secret realm. The sect subsequently relocated through the Sun-Moon Bell into the Heavenly Stele Realm, which became the Ninth Mountain World. 247 256
Zheng Fa’s control of the Ninth Mountain World enabled the sect to restructure its cultivation, education, administration, and resource systems. After the Hundred Immortals Alliance failed to adequately support Nine Mountains Sect during the crisis, Zheng Fa announced its withdrawal from the Alliance. 256 260
Zheng Fa formally became Sect Leader during his inauguration ceremony. Under his leadership, the sect expanded from a weakened regional sect into a major Xuanwei power with territory across the former Hundred Immortals Alliance. 282 393

- Zheng Fa — Sect Leader; directed the sect’s reforms, technological development, territorial expansion, and later transformation into the Nine Mountains Immortal Court. 282 393 626

- Uncle-Master Pang — senior elder deeply devoted to the sect’s survival, development, and military affairs. 260 393
- Aunt-Master Huang — Nascent Soul elder who protected Zheng Fa and supported the sect’s withdrawal from the Hundred Immortals Alliance. 247 260
- Xie Qingxue — Grand Elder and leader associated with the Celestial River Legion and Immortal Executing Sword Array. 529 659
- Madam Xuanhua — artifact-refinement expert whose work helped establish the sect’s industrial artifact-forging system. 404 506
- Xiao Yuying — external ally who gradually became closely involved in the sect’s research, defense, and development. 246 410 540
Organization and Reforms
Education and Recruitment
Zheng Fa reopened and reformed the Talisman Discussion Pavilion, introducing structured courses so that disciples without a background in lightning talismans could study the sect’s methods. 256
The sect’s first large-scale entrance examination drew more than 40,000 candidates and admitted 300 disciples. The examination emphasized arithmetic and literature alongside cultivation potential. 318
By the time of the first General Assembly, Nine Mountains Sect recruited between 2,000 and 10,000 disciples annually and had grown to several hundred thousand disciples. 627
Merit and Administration
Senior Sister Zhang and the Nine Mountains Patriarch created the Mountain-River Seal, adapting the Heavenly Stele Realm’s contribution system for the sect. The resulting Merit Hall and Hall of Worthies assigned tasks, distributed merit, and recognized contributions. 285
The sect later established a General Assembly in which all affiliated cultivators possessed the right to participate. This assembly became a defining institution of the later Nine Mountains Immortal Court. 626 627
Knowledge Networks
Zheng Fa created the Ninth Mountain Forum through the Creation Jade Plate, using Chronicles for cultivation discussions, questions and answers, and later real-time expedition communications. 332 336
Chronicles also developed into an intelligence and propaganda network for the sect. 648
Economy and Industry
Nine Mountains Sect combined cultivation methods with modern scientific principles to industrialize spirit farming, alchemy, artifact forging, and External Core production. 404 414
- External Cores were mass-produced through Immortal Formation methods rather than exclusively by Nascent Soul cultivators. 404
- Divine Firmament Warships and mining vessels were developed for prospecting, ore extraction, transport, and military use. 404 421
- Nine Mountains Department Store distributed sect-made magic tools and supported personnel operating beyond the sect’s core territory. 490 656
- The Heaven and Earth Money House absorbed external resources and reinvested them into production and development. 648
Cultivation and Military Capabilities
Thunder Methods
Thunder methods are the sect’s traditional specialty. The Five Thunder Dharma Body, Divine Firmament Thunder-Commanding True Method, thunder talismans, and later electricity-based teachings formed the core of its combat and research identity. 90 193 272
The Divine Firmament Thunder-Commanding True Method is especially compatible with the Ninth Mountain World and rose toward the status of a mountain-suppressing art. 295
Formation Warfare
The sect relies heavily on formations that allow groups of lower-realm cultivators to wield power beyond their individual cultivation.
- Celestial Cycle Divine Lightning Immortal Array — used by Nascent Soul cultivators against Divine Transformation opponents. 340
- Immortal Executing Sword Array — the foundation of the Celestial River Legion; capable of deploying immense numbers of Flying Swords over a wide battlefield. 529 659
- Thick-Earth Essence Magnetism Great Array — draws upon earth veins, reducing the spiritual-power burden on participating disciples while providing prolonged high-level firepower. 543
- Primordial Magnetic Formation — improves warship mobility, resource transport, and battlefield control across occupied territory. 664
Military Doctrine
Nine Mountains Sect treats cultivators as its most valuable resource and considers the loss of trained disciples more costly than the consumption of magic tools or spiritual materials. 660
Its military doctrine consequently emphasizes logistics, calculation, mass production, and saturation attacks rather than forcing disciples into costly individual duels. 659 660
Legions
- Divine Firmament Legion — composed of disciples skilled in thunder methods; operates alongside the Thick-Earth Magnetism Formation. 545
- Celestial River Legion — based on the Myriad Immortals Formation and associated with the Immortal Executing Sword Array. 529 659
- Sun-Shooting Army — formed at Radiant Sun Base after the incorporation of Radiant Sun Mountain’s legacy. 621
Governance and Territory
The sect’s governance expanded beyond cultivators to include mortals. In newly controlled regions, it reissued land deeds, allocated ten mu of land to each adult, set low taxes, and established free schools. 488
Nine Mountains Sect also treated the restoration of damaged spirit veins as part of its administration. Zheng Fa restored the Flowing Cloud Sect’s Spirit Vein and offered Fairy Jinfeng the opportunity to rebuild her sect under Nine Mountains guidance. 560
Its territorial defense and administration became increasingly tied to geomagnetic networks and Essence Magnetism Arrays, which improved transport, industry, governance, and military response. 540 560
After Radiant Sun Mountain’s surrender, the sect’s territory stretched from the Eastern Continent toward the Western Continent, bordered the Supreme Dao, and was backed by the Underworld. 608

Northern Continent Campaign
The Divine Firmament Legion invaded the Peacock Demon Country, defeated the Demon Race’s resistance through overwhelming formation warfare, and helped integrate the Northern Continent into Nine Mountains rule. 659 666
Nine Mountains Immortal Court
The first Nine Mountains Sect General Assembly was later regarded as Immortal Court Year One and the beginning of the Nine Mountains Immortal Court era. 626 627
After Zheng Fa achieved Golden Immortality, the sect’s military and political power expanded rapidly. In Immortal Court Year 345, it repelled an attack by twelve Golden Immortals; by the following year, the Eastern Continent had been unified under the Immortal Court. 688 697
