Zheng Fa later describes Dao Fruit cultivators as comparable to open-source software or programming languages: followers are simultaneously users and improvers of the system, while propagating the Dao becomes part of the bearer’s own cultivation. 390

Different lineages reach the Dao Fruit through different sacrifices. In the Dharma Body path, the Dharma Body gives rise to a True Spirit; when the Dharma Body and True Spirit merge, the original Divine Soul perishes and the cultivator becomes a Scattered Immortal. In the Corpse Liberation path, a condensed Yang Spirit becomes a Dao Body while the original physical body is discarded. 553

A Dao Fruit aspirant must ultimately retain only the law itself—an ideal Dragon Lord Shuyu calls purity. This makes Dao Fruit attainment a matter of “choice and sacrifice.” 553

Ritual and Recognition

A Dao Fruit requires more than cultivation strength. Its maturation requires a Ritual acknowledged by Heaven, Earth, and living beings. 373 592

The term “Dao Fruit” is also used loosely for supreme artifacts and Heaven-and-Earth Spirit Roots associated with Dao Fruit-level power.

Fusang Tree Dao Fruit

The Fusang Tree is Zheng Fa’s most consequential Dao Fruit-related foundation. Its vitality and creation are more universal to the Demon Race than the Grand Liberation Demon Ancestor’s cultivation method: demons depend upon the sun-and-moon essence associated with the Fusang Tree to awaken spiritual intelligence. 370

Evolution

• Zheng Fa’s public documentary and the worship it inspired caused faint purple, incomplete Talisman Diagrams to emerge on the Fusang Tree’s flower petals; the tree gained a more lofty and mysterious aura. 376
• The tree’s influence on lecturing enabled Senior Sister Yuan to gain sudden enlightenment and strengthen her Life-Bound Spirit Fire after Zheng Fa’s lesson. 378

Limitations and Risks

• Although its status is immense, the Fusang Tree was initially weaker than a true Dao Fruit bearer; Zheng Fa could suppress cultivators below Dao Fruit with it but could not reliably oppose a true Dao Fruit without other treasures. 445
• Its lack of a True Spirit makes it incomplete as a Dharma Body. Zheng Fa considered either fully merging it into himself or abandoning it to attain Dao Fruit purity. 553
