The sun flickered and dimmed.
Like a faulty lightbulb, shadows pulsed continuously, obscuring part of its radiance and casting darkness over the war-torn land.
Yet those shadows did not seem powerful enough to extinguish the sun completely. Even snuffing it out temporarily proved difficult. Moments later, the unwavering sunlight dispersed the darkness and once more scattered light and heat across the universe.
It was not only Azeroth's sun that underwent this strange change.
Every star-bearing galaxy throughout the universe experienced the same phenomenon. It appeared at the same moment and vanished at the same moment.
This was not Diakum's Eclipse. His path had not yet evolved to the point where it could connect with the suns across the entire sea of stars.
But this spectacle of a celestial hound devouring the sun did nothing to stop those fighting desperately in the war from continuing to hack one another to death. They were too absorbed in it—demons, undead, and Azeroth's rebels alike.
All their attention had been consumed by the war. They had no energy left to notice changes in the heavens.
Logically speaking, Sargeras's incarnation had already been driven away. The demons should have lost heart and retreated to the Twisting Nether. But Sargeras was clearly a man of refinement.
Before leaving, he had issued one final order to the demons currently on Azeroth.
Those who advanced would be rewarded with Demon Ascension. Those who retreated would receive fel without mercy!
In other words: advance, and ascend to paradise; retreat, and fall into endless hell. Ever since ancient times, the rhetoric used by those in power to make cannon fodder fight to the death
