Background / History

Yao emerged as an Uchiha prodigy whose Three-Tomoe Sharingan awakened through hardship. Rather than allowing grief to consume him, he concluded that strength was the only means to protect the living and avenge the fallen. After Nanako's death, he steadied Mikoto and arranged to pursue the responsible Iwa-nin with her. 101

His encounter with Ōtsutsuki Isshiki resulted in Mikoto's death and severe injuries to Yao, but he used Groudon's power to defeat Isshiki. After returning to Konoha, he visited the Memorial Stone to mourn Nawaki and used his unstable awakening to gain Tsunade's trust. 102

Tsunade's examination revealed that Yao possessed multiple incompatible powers. She treated his backlash, supplied medicine to help him adapt, and recruited him to gather intelligence within the Uchiha Clan. Meanwhile, the Uchiha leadership assigned him to earn Uzumaki Kushina's trust and leverage his apparent closeness with Tsunade for the clan's political advancement. 102 103 104
