Background
Tang San was born to Tang Ba, whose expulsion from the Clear Sky Sect left him running an unsuccessful blacksmith shop. After Tang San awakened Blue Silver Grass and a black hammer as Twin Martial Souls, Tang Ba's suspicion that his son had stolen money gave way to pride and affection 22.
He remembers a previous life and remains deeply devoted to the Tang Sect. He considers himself a man of the Tang Sect in every life, values its hidden weapons and ultimate skills, and resents those who disparage them 76.
At Shrek Academy, Tang San entered the Martial Soul Department under Yan Shaozhe. He chose it for its resources, protection, and Yan Shaozhe's promised personal instruction, while rejecting the Soul Guidance Device Department because he associates soul guidance devices with the Tang Sect's decline 89.
Tai Tan later brought him back to the Clear Sky Sect. Tang San accepted the arrangement both for its resources and because passing the sect's trials could restore Tang Ba's standing in the sect 158. He endured repeated assessments and beatings from Tai Tan for over half a year, motivated by filial duty and a desire to eventually retaliate 209.
Appearance
Tang San was an eight- or nine-year-old boy when he entered Sunset Forest for his second soul ring. His eyes can emit a faint purple shimmer when using Purple Demon Eyes 40.
- Possesses a black Clear Sky Hammer martial soul 68.
- Later appears with blue hair while awaiting Tai Tan 248.
- Was injured enough to require a cane when seeking Huo Yuhao's help 133.
Personality
Tang San is calculating, proud, and strongly attached to his roots. He is capable of patient endurance: he tolerated Clear Sky Sect assessments for years while waiting for an opportunity to act, and he consistently pursues strength through difficult or dangerous methods 209 248 290.
His filial piety toward Tang Ba is a central motivation. Tang San accepts humiliation and harsh training because he wants his father reinstated in the Clear Sky Sect, and he is deeply affected by Tang Ba's care for him 158 209.
He can be confrontational when his beliefs are challenged. He publicly defended Tang Sect hidden weapons against Zhou Yi, though the exchange exposed his difficulty controlling his temper toward authority 76. He also holds intense resentment toward the Divine Realm Tang San and ultimately fights him with the intent to destroy him 353 355.
