The rustling sound of parchment turning echoed in the quiet Stone Chamber. Sean kept his eyes on the Basilisk out of the corner of his eye, but the big guy really did not move at all, with half of its body submerged in the lake water. If it weren't for its thick snake tail occasionally sweeping the ground, Sean would have thought it was dead.

What was Slytherin's purpose in putting another Basilisk here? It didn't react when I turned the parchment; it doesn't seem to be guarding any treasures...

Sean muttered a few words to himself, still puzzled, and then turned his attention back to the paper.

The second page was different from the previous one; the dark green font had turned into bright red. After Sean opened it, a faint, sulfur-like smell gradually filled the air.

It seems that Slytherin used some kind of ink that Sean had never seen before.

"My descendants, by the time you see these words, I, Salazar Slytherin, will be asleep. The Chamber of Secrets of the castle holds the magic I have been researching all along, and of course, I have also placed a little cutie to guard those things."

"Little cutie... "Slytherin called the Basilisk "little cutie"... Sean was speechless.

"The Parseltongue incantation to summon it is: Speak to me, Slytherin, the greatest of the Four Founders of Hogwarts."

"Remember, use it wisely—if necessary, I will allow you to use the Basilisk's power to intimidate others, but you must not kill them."

"Hogwarts is a school, and even though many people in this school are not qualified to sit in the classroom, killing is still not allowed."

As expected, just as Sean had predicted, Slytherin repeatedly emphasized that the Basilisk should not be turned into a tool for killing.

However, something is strange... Sean frowned.

According to what is written here, Slytherin's descendants should have arrived in this small Stone Chamber before they could discover the spell to summon the Basilisk, and then they would have seen the warning written by Slytherin himself.

Whether it was the person who murdered Moaning Myrtle or Gormlaith Gaunt, the descendants of Slytherin clearly did not heed Slytherin's warnings.

Does the wisdom of our ancestors have no effect? Or have they never even seen this saying?

Sean continued reading with a sense of doubt.

Slytherin devoted much space to describing his ideals, in which wizards were to stand at the pinnacle of the world, and Pure-blood Wizard were the noblest of nobles.

To put it simply, Pure-blood Wizard should command Half-blood Wizard, while Half-blood Wizard command Muggle and manage the world.

Sean had a strange feeling, and he thought of two people.

Riddle and Grindelwald.

Riddle's goal was immortality, and naturally, the creed he used to gather the Death Eaters was Pure-blood. Grindelwald was different; he believed that wizards were inherently noble, regardless of whether they were Pure-blood Half-blood, and that Muggle, as inferior beings, should be ruled.

While the three, including Slytherin, share some similarities in their ideologies, their focuses and levels of radicalism are completely different.

The various forms of racism...

After that, Slytherin recorded many magical insights on parchment, including ancient spells and the Dark Arts he developed himself, covering a wide range of topics.

Moreover, Sean discovered that this might reveal the evolution of spells in the Wizarding World.

Dumbledore once told him about this, saying that the current trend in spell development is more focused on home and daily life, and that most of these spells are improvements or weakenings of previous spells.

For example, Slytherin mentioned a spell that, according to its name, is the same as ' Scouring Charm,' only with a different root word and a different wand-waving gesture.

However, the results were vastly different.

The spell recorded in Slytherin can instantly peel off a layer of skin from the person under its spell...

Another example is the precursor to the ' Expelliarmus '.

However, this 'Exterminate Fingers' can instantly pluck out all five fingers of the cursed person's right hand...

Slytherin seemed to have some artistic talent; he depicted the state of a cursed person in detail. In the simple sketch, a wizard was screaming as he clutched his bloodied and mangled right hand, which had lost a finger. Beside him, the five fingers had flown to other places...

Sean felt a chill run down his spine. In terms of power alone, the spell back then was far more powerful than it is now.

Most importantly, Sean focused intently and carefully memorized the incantation ' Scouring Charm,' and a new spell appeared on the system panel. This spell wasn't marked as Dark Arts!

This means that casting this spell does not require negative emotions!

As a wizard who had mastered dozens of dark spells, Sean was surprised to find that many dark spells that could be cast on a wizard and sent to Azkaban were not as powerful as this ancient version of ' Scouring Charm '!

The environment for wizard duels back then was truly terrifying... Sean muttered to himself.

On the last page, Sean turned to a spell that caught his eye.

"Legilimency."

This kind of mind-detecting magic is an extremely high-level magic, not only because it is difficult to learn, but also because of its effects.

The ability to See Through Hearts is always a terrifying thing.

Slytherin described in detail the effects and workings of Legilimency.

He emphasized that Legilimency is not about reading people's minds; it can only extract certain memories from the mind.

In other words, those who Legilimency cannot fully see what is going on in a person's mind.

In the end, Slytherin wrote, "The mind is extremely complex, and thoughts are not etched into the head. Legilimency can only give you a glimpse of things. To extract useful information from them, the caster must judge and analyze them himself."

"Remember, do not be obsessed with Legilimency, and do not try to See Through Hearts."

No wonder he's a renowned master of Legilimency... After just a quick read, Sean could sense the various details and technical sophistication within.

Moreover, judging from these notes alone, Slytherin himself was actually a rather excellent teacher.

Of course, it's possible that he left these good things only to his descendants.

However, now it's mine... Having just gone through a brush with death, Sean naturally put away his Slytherin notes.

I was almost killed by the other Basilisk you were secretly raising, so it's not too much to ask for a little something from you, is it?

Inside the Stone Chamber, the Basilisk remained obediently still. Sean glanced at its enormous body, a hint of doubt rising in his mind.

What's going on with this guy?
