The Room of Requirement's True Form
A wizard's abilities stem from innate talent, inherited through bloodline. Every wizard is born with magic, an ability akin to having an extra arm, an extension of their magical power. This arm connects with their own Magic Power Source and the Magical World, creating a resonance between them, thus enabling spells to function.
This method of communication follows specific gestures, incantations, thoughts, and emotions. The spell is like a key that unlocks a 'rule' in this Magical World.
During Sean's exploration of the Magical World, he strongly agreed with this explanation in Adber Waughlin's "Magical Theory".
He is constantly trying to offer his own insights and create a key that belongs to him.
Obviously, this is very difficult.
However, just now, during his continuous comparison and construction of the Wingardium Leviofa and the Flash Charm, Sean discovered that he seemed to have grasped a little bit of the trick.
He seemed to have grasped the essence of Summoning Charm a little.
Establish connections, transcending space.
This is the answer Sean found.
Hermione and Daisy, who dared not utter a sound, watched Sean with expressions of surprise and enjoyment. They saw Sean gently wave his wand, and a faint but precisely targeted magical force emanated from the tip of his wand.
One hour, two hours, three hours passed, and the castle closed its eyes, while Sean finally stood up abruptly.
"Found it!" His eyes shone brightly, showing no sign of fatigue.
The two girls, who were leaning against the cushions and hugging each other, suddenly woke up.
"Sean?"
Sean excitedly spun around in place and said to the two of them, "I know how to combine the two spells. If my idea is correct, then I may really be able to infinitely extend the range of the Flash Charm, and even enter the original form of the Room of Requirement."
Hermione and Daisy exchanged a glance, both seeing the shock in each other's eyes.
If Sean succeeds, the Wizarding World will have a brand new spell: Summoning Charm that, in essence, allows for long-distance teleportation.
"Let me try it out, let's go out first—" Sean shouted impatiently.
Daisy and Hermione obediently stood up, and they saw a small black worm emerging from the tip of Sean's staff.
The Shadow Worm Charm, a detection spell, was something Sean got from Gormlaith Gaunt.
Leaving the Shadow Bug inside, the group left the Room of Requirement.
On the Seventh Floor corridor, Sean turned to look at the stone wall that had been restored to its former appearance, and closed his eyes to sense it.
He wasn't using this method to locate things, but rather to determine the trajectory of the magic's flow.
If he could successfully sense it, Sean was confident he could use it to determine the lifeless Magic Power Source represented by the Room of Requirement. Then, using the method of establishing a connection he had learned from the Summoning Charm, he could use it to construct his own magical outline across space.
As soon as he closed his eyes, Sean clearly sensed the source of the magic.
It works!
Sean remained calm and carefully analyzed the direction and trajectory of the magic flow.
The Flash Charm requires the wizard's magic to extend outwards and construct a magical outline at a fixed location. This extension can be understood as Sean's magic becoming a line that moves outwards.
However, the line couldn't stray too far from Sean, so the Flash Charm was also very close.
At this moment, Sean used the method of finding the summoned object in the Summoning Charm. He cleverly combined the key points of the two spells, and the line used to construct the outline no longer extended slowly, but instead 'drilled' out through space.
The line that followed the magical trajectory finally landed in the right place.
Sean immediately manipulated and outlined his own silhouette.
As the outline took shape, Sean opened his eyes and made a brand new wand motion with his right hand.
"The Trajectory Flash."
He vanished from the spot as if he had used a normal teleport.
"Nothing has changed..." Room of Requirement, Sean looked around at the scenery.
His Shadow Bug was lying obediently on the ground, and the surroundings remained exactly as they had left them.
However, this time Sean didn't come in through the door.
This shows that his self-created spell is effective! In other words, as long as Sean can leave his magical imprint elsewhere, he can teleport long distances, or more accurately, blink.
Blink is Summoning Charm, so it is not restricted by Hogwarts, nor can it be caught by the Anti-Apparition Charm like Apparition.
Of course, more testing is needed for long-distance flickering.
However, this was enough to excite Sean.
Unfortunately, the Room of Requirement it is today is clearly not the original version.
Sean rested his chin on his hand and began to think.
Does the Room of Requirement remain unchanged until the next visitor makes a request, indefinitely maintaining the appearance of the previous visitor's needs?
This doesn't seem reasonable.
Because Sean had tried to quickly enter and exit the Room of Requirement while making different requests, the magical room reacted very quickly.
Something's not right...
Sean thought for a moment, then pushed open the door and went out.
In the hallway, Daisy and Hermione stared at him in shock.
"You succeeded?!"
Sean nodded. "The spell worked, but the Room of Requirement remains exactly as it was before we left. What about you?"
Hermione said, "As you said, I started chanting after you disappeared. The wooden door appeared, but I didn't push it open. After I changed my request, the door disappeared, just like in previous tests. When there are people in the house, the requests are different, Room of Requirement won't respond to you."
Is it because I'm already inside...? Sean nodded.
He decided to try a different approach.
"I need a washroom."
"I need a washroom."
"I need a washroom."
Sean stood in front of the stone wall and began to mutter to himself.
Soon, the stone wall changed shape, and a wooden door appeared before his eyes.
Sean didn't rush to push the door open. He repeated his previous actions, and as the incantation finished, he successfully teleported into the Room of Requirement once again.
This time, something shocking happened: the Room of Requirement where he was was still the same as before, the room that he and Hermione and Daisy had used to practice spells for years.
It's not a washroom filled with luxurious toilets!
Most importantly, that wooden door leading out is gone!
What should have been a doorway had become a bare stone wall. Sean walked over and touched it; it was made of the same material as any other stone wall, with nothing special about it.
In other words, he has now entered a separate space.
This is very similar to his previous guess!
The Room of Requirement doesn't change the furnishings according to the visitor's wishes; it simply opens the door to the room you want!
Sean suddenly felt his mind open up.
He walked around the room once, and then cast the spell again.
The sudden appearance of Sean startled Hermione and Daisy. Hermione clutched her chest and said urgently, "You scared me to death! Why didn't you come out this time?"
"Because there's no way." Sean recounted his experience.
"You've entered a new room? No, no, you've entered the old room? No, no..." Daisy was a little confused.
Sean smiled slightly, "Let's try it again."
He quickly repeated it again, and Hermione immediately told him when he flashed back into existence.
"We can't open this door!"
Sure enough, because Sean was inside the Room of Requirement, the door leading to the luxury bathroom couldn't be opened!
It's getting closer and closer to what I guessed.
Sean stood excitedly in front of the restored stone wall.
"I need a place where I can practice spells, have a barbecue, take a shower, and play Quidditch."
He paced back and forth, silently reciting in his mind.
And this time, the Room of Requirement responded to him as always.
However, the stone wall is changing and creeping much slower than before!
It took quite a while for the wooden door to be completed.
This time, Sean simply pushed open the wooden door and went inside.
The room inside was larger than before, with one side being a place for practicing spells, just like the room where Sean first entered the Vanishing Cabinet and met Grindelwald.
The bookshelves were filled with spellbooks, practice dummies, and the Vanishing Cabinet was quietly placed in its original spot. In the very center of the floor lay a Shadow Bug that I had always left there.
On the other side, a barbecue grill and a campfire were set up on an open space, with tables and chairs thoughtfully placed nearby.
Somewhat comically, these things were placed in the center of a small Quidditch Pitch, with three goals erected in front for throwing Quaffle.
What's even more ridiculous is that below the three goalposts, there's a room against the stone wall. Pushing open the door, you'll find several bathtubs already filled with hot water.
Although comical and out of place, the Room of Requirement did indeed fulfill Sean's request.
The existence of the Shadow Bug also confirmed Sean's idea.
When the Room of Requirement first appeared in the castle, it did indeed respond instantly to visitors' needs, creating a new room on the spot. Then, it would store this room, and the next time the same need arose, it wouldn't create a new room on the spot, but would instead open the door of the old room for the visitor.
The needs of visitors should be broadly categorized, such as "I want a place to hide things," "I want to find a place to hide," "I want a place with second-hand Cauldron," and so on.
These kinds of requests will be directed to a specific room because the Room of Requirement determines that this room can meet your needs.
Over the millennia, more and more rooms have been 'stored' so that the Room of Requirement can meet the needs of later generations without the need to build new rooms.
Sean's request was completely irrelevant, and the Room of Requirement's inventory couldn't meet it, so it created a new room, which is why the wooden door took longer to complete than usual.
Obviously, the Room of Requirement cannot duplicate items, so it combines eligible old rooms into a new room that meets the requirements.
In that case, maybe I can try my method...
Sean eliminated the original Shadow Bug, then took off his watch and put another Shadow Bug inside it.
He put down his watch and went outside. Once the stone wall was restored, he instructed Hermione.
"In a moment, you silently recite: I need a place where I can practice spells, have a barbecue, take a shower, play Quidditch, but can't find a mechanical watch engraved with Wallerup's name."
Hermione did as she was told, and the wooden door appeared in a flash.
Sean immediately closed his eyes. He wanted to find out where the watch he had just put down and then excluded from the room had gone!
The magical trajectory of the Shadow Bug was still clearly traceable, and Sean quickly outlined the magical contours.
"Trajectory Flash!"
Then, Sean suddenly appeared in mid-air!
However, having already prepared himself, he remained calm and a spell floated lightly to the ground.
"The Watch Accio."
In mid-air, the watch, which was floating in one direction, gently flew into Sean's hand.
And the whole picture here was revealed to Sean.
This is a huge bluestone plaza, the stone slabs of which are similar in material to the floor of a library—or rather, this is a classical library.
Perhaps "exhibition hall" would be a more appropriate description.
It has three floors, and apart from the central aisle, there are neatly arranged shelves everywhere. The items are categorized and placed in order. Starting from the second floor, they float steadily in mid-air, holding books, armor, dummies, birdcages, toilets, skeletons, and more.
This place is like a museum, encompassing everything you can and can't even imagine.
The only odd thing was that there were few exhibits on the shelves, and the entire exhibition hall seemed empty.
On the wall, inside a rectangular lampshade carved from crystal, the blue flames are not gloomy; they emit a soft and warm light, giving the entire space a comfortable feeling.
Through the crack, Sean could see the surrounding walls—no, to be precise, they were semi-transparent doors.
Sean slowly walked over and saw the storage room piled with Flying Broomstick, the washroom filled with toilets, and all sorts of other rooms.
These are the Room of Requirement that have already been manufactured and stored... Sean immediately understood.
He continued walking and came across a huge storage room, which was exactly where his watch had been heading.
This is true not only on the first floor, but also on the second and third floors.
Sean looked up and saw the very center of the ceiling, which resembled a star-studded night sky, with shooting stars constantly streaking across it, making the entire ceiling seem like a dream.
This is what the Room of Requirement originally looked like...
Sean's lips involuntarily curled into a smile as he walked along the aisle. His view gradually opened up, and the display shelves slowly moved away.
Finally, he saw what the innermost part looked like.
Starlight twinkled above, Runes, parchment, and quills floated and swirled around. Blue curtains moved without wind, and a bronze-colored giant eagle soared with outstretched wings.
They all surrounded a statue as white as jade.
That's Rowena Ravenclaw.
