The Difference Between Inside and Outside the Barrier
The emotionless and unresponsive Dementor, under Sean's command, became frenzied and violent, lunging at Max Dawson like the most Greed demons.
There's only one goal: to give the party organizer of tonight a Dementor's most passionate kiss.
Dawson was panting heavily, blood trickling down from the wound on his abdomen, and pink foam flowing uncontrollably from the corner of his mouth.
"Ha... ha... how is this possible..." Dawson muttered to himself, saying all sorts of incomprehensible things, his eyes filled with despair and lifelessness.
"You're lying to me, you're lying to me...!" He struggled to sit up, his eyes wide, his pupils throbbing violently.
"You! You and!" Dawson pointed a finger at the utterly cold-blooded Sean in mid-air.
He seemed to want to loudly question Sean about something.
However, just as Sean shifted his gaze, he saw a fiery red magical energy suddenly emerge from Dawson's wrist, trembling in a strange form.
"Ah—" Dawson's words were choked in his throat. He saw the fiery red magic, and the panic and resentment in his eyes almost merged together, strange and inexplicable.
The fiery red magic seemed to be searching for something. After its tip trembled for a while, it found the place it wanted to go— Dawson's heart.
The magic meandered in, penetrating Dawson's skin and causing terrifying, deep red veins to swell up on his arms. Then, those deep red veins spread rapidly toward Dawson's heart.
Dawson's eyes were bloodshot, and he let out a scream of extreme pain. Then he knelt heavily on the ground, pressed his head against the stone slab, and clutched his heart tightly.
"I didn't! I didn't!"
The deep red veins finally slowed down, seemingly judging whether Dawson was being sincere.
Dawson gasped for breath, desperately gulping down Calming Draught. Finally, the stagnation in his meridians stopped, and fiery red magic surged out, returning to Dawson's wrist.
It was as if it had never existed.
This is... Unbreakable Vow?
An idea popped into Sean's mind.
However, this thought was quickly replaced by an uncontrollable killing intent and destructive urge. Sean snorted coldly, and the Dementor pounced on them frantically.
The Dementor at the very front had even opened its arms, ready to embrace Dawson, who was standing right in front of it.
Despite being given dozens of times the normal dose of Calming Draught, Dawson managed to maintain a degree of rationality. He struggled to wave his wand, and a silver-white grizzly bear emerged from the tip of the wand and stood guard in front of its master.
The silver-white grizzly bear roared silently, yet the Dementor, who feared the Patronus Angel most, completely ignored their natural enemy!
They charged forward one after another, even as black smoke began to rise from their own and their companions' bodies.
The guardian grizzly bear vigorously waved its enormous paws, trying to drive away these uninvited guests.
However, there were too many Dementor, and they were far too insane.
They seemed utterly irrational, solely focused on gaining favor from Sean. Even if their most feared Patronus was right in front of them, they would complete all of Sean's tasks without regard for the cost.
The grizzly bear roared as it retreated, Dawson was surrounded by more than a dozen Dementor, with even the blood from his wounds starting to freeze.
His eyes were gradually losing their sparkle, and the already scarce positive emotions in his heart were rapidly peeling away.
On the covered bridge, the Dementor had surrounded Dawson and the Patronus Grizzly, forming a hemisphere made of dark, tattered cloth.
In mid-air, stimulated by Dawson's blood and the black crystal, the Silent Mouth even broke free from its subjugation to Sean in his Dark Sleeper state, becoming violent and Greed.
However, it couldn't even get close to Sean.
One terrifying green light, as thick as an arm, followed another; the Killing Curse was even simpler for Sean than the Wand-Lighting Charm.
Even though the Silent Mouth possessed near-complete immunity to magic, it was still repeatedly knocked back by the relentless Killing Curse. After absorbing so many Killing Curse, the black vortex in its mouth stopped spinning and began to tremble wildly, as if it were about to explode at any moment.
Beneath Sean, the Basilisk, the Occamy, and the Selma Lake Monster crowded the covered bridge. They stretched out their massive bodies, coiling around the bridge pillars again and again, and rushed towards the Silent Mouth.
Naja the Occamy can freely enlarge her body, but she is the most agile. The little cutie who usually serves as Sean's scarf and backrest is now screeching wildly. Her wings, aided by magic and wind, propel her body directly into the air, and she takes flight!
In mid-air, the Silent Mouth, which was twenty meters in diameter, was tightly bound by the Occamy. It emitted even more bizarre and frenzied magical fluctuations, and black particles overflowed from its mouth, then struck heavily towards the Occamy's body!
However, the Selma Lake Monster, who arrived later, opened its mouth wide, and Sean waved his wand, causing a torrential downpour.
The throat in the center of the Selma Lake Monster's giant mouth trembled, and the water was quickly gathered and then shot out, hitting the mouth of the Silent Mouth, which was overflowing with black particles.
Water cannons fired one after another, and Naja's body, which had been repeatedly struck, was finally freed. The black particles were too busy to deal with their own problems.
The Selma Lake Monster seized the opportunity and, just like Naja, tightly bound the Silent Mouth, leaving it only able to struggle frantically without being able to fight back.
The slowest-swimming but most frightening Basilisk recklessly smashed through everything on the covered bridge, moving across like the most violent bulldozer.
Upon reaching the bottom of the Silent Mouth, it did not choose to leap like Naja, nor did it use the force of the water to leap like the Selma Lake Monster. The Basilisk simply lashed out at the covered bridge, causing stone slabs to tremble and fall off the cliff. The Basilisk then used its tail to forcefully coil up a broken stone pillar and pull it back up.
Its intelligence, far exceeding that of normal Magical Creatures, allowed it to wed the stone pillar in the crevice, and then the Basilisk quickly swam upstream along the pillar.
The Basilisk wearing glasses no longer looked comical; its body was tense, its eyes fixed on the constantly writhing, Silent Mouth, a dangerous and deadly aura emanating from it.
The Silent Mouth struggled frantically, but the Occamy and the Selma Lake Monster were already exceptionally powerful. They had also fully absorbed the Magical Creature Cultivation Liquid that Sean had given them, further enhancing their terrifying physical abilities.
Meanwhile, Sean completely suppressed the Silent Mouth's magical attacks, which resembled Obscurus black particles. He transformed into black smoke and flew like Dementor king, finding various angles that wouldn't harm Naja and the Selma Lake Monster, and frantically unleashing spells.
There is only one spell, and only this one spell is needed.
The Silent Mouth has been completely sealed off, and Dawson, the black hemisphere made up of Dementor, is growing smaller and smaller, with the surrounding covered bridges completely covered in frost.
Meanwhile, outside the barrier, the professors watched the scene unfold with great concern.
A huge spherical barrier enveloped the long covered walkway leading from Hogwarts Castle to the outside world. The barrier was a blurry, distorted pale gray, and nothing inside could be seen at all.
Professor McGonagall tried several spells, but they were either deflected or absorbed into the barrier upon contact with it, leaving the barrier itself unaffected.
Charlotte shouted from the side, "That guy is completely wrong. He seems to have anticipated this. When Sean tried to subdue him first, he immediately retaliated, and his strength is ridiculously powerful."
Colton nodded slightly, speaking calmly and quickly, "With just that strange, spellless attack method, Hawk and I could only defend and retreat. It seems to be one of his abilities—he can also use spells to attack Sean, and his level is at the elite Auror level."
Snape was gently touching the edge of the barrier with his fingers, and then he took out a few bottles of strange Potions and dripped them on it. After a moment, he looked up and said, "This is a very strange spell. I've never seen it before. My specially made Potions to break it didn't work. This is no ordinary spell."
Professor Flitwick paced around anxiously for a moment before stopping and angrily pulling out his wand.
"I don't care anymore! Sean is trapped inside all by himself, and that bastard is clearly after Sean! I'm going to blow this barrier up!"
As he spoke, he brandished his wand and performed the grand gestures required for Ancient Magic. In addition to teaching, he, Nonverbal Spell for many years, also began to chant spells.
Colton's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes revealed obvious shock.
The spell, which hadn't even been officially cast yet, was already making me a little nervous... Is this the profound knowledge and experience that a prestigious university with a thousand-year history has given its professors?
Professor McGonagall hesitated slightly but did not stop Professor Flitwick; she even took out her own wand.
The situation is urgent; we can no longer use safe methods to test each one individually.
The Head of Gryffindor finally revealed his adventurous side.
Even Snape, with a gloomy expression, pulled out his wand.
The three professors all began to conjure powerful spells, preparing to smash them directly into the spherical barrier.
At this moment, Professor Babbling, who had been keeping his eyes closed as if searching his memories, suddenly opened them.
"Wait!" she stopped the professors from doing anything further.
"Bathsheba, what have you discovered? Is this barrier related to Ancient Runes?" Professor McGonagall asked anxiously.
Professor Babbling walked to the barrier, gently touched it with his hand, and muttered to himself, "It actually exists..."
"Bathsheba, stop beating around the bush!" Flitwick urgently, his wand tip practically sparking.
"I have only seen a similar description in the manuscript of a 13th-century Dark Wizard. It is said that this kind of barrier is made entirely of Ancient Runes, and is the rarest Ancient Runes creation among Ancient Runes. That is, the main body of the barrier is a combination of various Runes symbols, and then the magic spells of the time are used to form such a barrier that can be temporarily cast."
Professor Babbling slammed his fist into the barrier with tremendous force. The distorted and blurred magical barrier trembled, and the air seemed to spread outwards from the center like lake water splashed with a stone, eventually settling back into calm.
"Your spells won't work—" Professor Babbling turned around, adjusting her thick glasses. "The most remarkable feature of this barrier is its ability to instantly transmit an attack received at a single point through runic channels to the entire barrier. And according to the manuscript I obtained earlier, a barrier of this level can withstand at least two hours of continuous attack, because after absorbing the attacks, it can also extract a portion of the magic power to feed back to the core runes. This is a unique Runes construction from Ancient Greek, now lost... Good heavens, I thought that Dark Wizard's manuscript was exaggerating..."
"Professor Babbling— " Snape's lips parted slightly, his voice muffled and cold, as if coming from his nose, "The problem is, how do we break this barrier? In two hours, we'll probably only be able to collect Mr. Wallop's body."
At that moment, Daisy, who had been nervously watching everything through the transparent wall beside her, covered her mouth.
The Little White Flower suddenly stood up. "Miss Ollivander, could you please let me out?"
Stephanie shook her head. "It's no use. I know a little about that barrier, but I have no way to break it."
Daisy stared at her defiantly, and for the first time, she didn't even consider Hermione beside her.
"Let me out. I'm going to save him, no matter what it takes." Little White Flower raised her head, exuding an aura that brooked no refusal and a do-or-die determination.
Stephanie glanced at her, and for some reason, she glanced at Hermione was silently standing on the other side.
The atmosphere inside the hidden stone wall became tense.
Before the barrier was erected, the professors were already arguing. One said they should call more people to help, while another said they should summon the Stone Giant from Hogwarts.
Professor Babbling remained silent, tapping the barrier repeatedly with her wand. Finally, she spoke, "There is a way we can try."
Everyone else immediately looked at her.
"I can construct a channel for transmitting magic. Ancient Greek Runes barriers all share a common characteristic: to prevent them from being broken to the greatest extent possible, they are constructed to reach the maximum limit of the barrier..."
"We can't break through it in a short time—" Professor Babbling pushed up his glasses, "Then let's burst it."
Professor McGonagall asked urgently, "Success rate?"
"More than 60 percent."
"Then let's get started!" Professor McGonagall said decisively.
Professor Babbling didn't say much. She took out the gold dust and began constructing the Runes, while instructing, "Call people over, the more the better. We have the advantage in numbers."
Charlotte cast a spell on herself and ran towards the Great Hall like lightning.
Inside the stone wall, the tense atmosphere eased slightly, and Stephanie said softly, "I have a way, don't rush."
Outside the barrier, things became extremely busy and tense.
Inside the barrier, Sean floated calmly in mid-air.
Right now...
The Basilisk's taut body shot out, its sharp fangs piercing directly into the center of the Silent Mouth.
On the broken covered bridge, the silvery-white grizzly bears dispersed, and the Dementor began their soul-stealing dance with the party organizers.
