Transfiguration Training
"Alright, that concludes today's lesson—oh, you all look exhausted?"
Sean leaned against the podium, smiling as he looked at the first-year students in the Transfiguration Classroom.
All the young wizards looked half-dead, and a few chubby students were slumped in their seats, panting heavily.
Campbell Axston, the first boy assigned to Ravenclaw House, was also breathing heavily, but he tried to sit up straight to avoid looking too embarrassed.
Today, Professor Wallop made everyone do frog jumps continuously in the classroom for a long time, exhausting everyone's bodies to the point of extreme fatigue.
Most young wizards don't understand why they, as wizards, need to do physical exercise.
But Campbell Axston believed that their Professor Wallop must have had his own reasons.
Driven by these fanatical worshippers of Sean, even the weakest students persevered for a long time. Although they didn't understand it, they still trusted Sean very much.
Next, Sean had them continuously experience the magical power operating in a state of extreme physical exhaustion.
"Use your most focused attention to feel the magic within you."
The young wizards were exhausted, but Professor Wallop's words still carried enough weight. They straightened their weary bodies and, as Sean had instructed, closed their eyes and began to feel the magic.
"Can you feel the magic is different from usual?"
Sean wasn't idle either; he was also constantly doing frog jumps in the classroom—one of the reasons why the students trusted Sean so much.
A student raised his hand, looking confused. "It's different. Although no spells were cast, the fluctuations in magical power are quite different from usual. It's like a calm stream encountering rocks, splashing up a lot of waves..."
While doing frog jumps, Sean gestured for the other person to sit down. "That's right, feeling this unstable state is a beginning—now, everyone who feels the magic, who feels different from their usual stable state, continue exercising, and at the same time try to concentrate on feeling the magic in a certain area of your body, such as your brain."
A few groans echoed through the classroom, but immediately some students, like Campbell Axston, continued their frog jumps.
"Pay attention to your physical condition and don't push yourself. If you feel dizzy, stop immediately and repeat the previous actions."
And so, the first-year wizards exercised in the classroom for the entire lesson with their Transfiguration assistant—of course, continuous exercise would damage their bodies, and Sean kept a close eye on everyone's condition, stopping any student who was trying to push themselves too hard.
At the same time, he also gave everyone a cup of water with diluted Invigoration Draught in it before the class started.
Despite having many students, Sean wasn't short of money. He could write to Lily to ask her to brew Potions if needed, or ask Lupin to buy things for him on the black market, or even...
Sean also occasionally received the finest Nutrient Potion from Snape.
Daisy no longer drinks the Potions to prevent the Blood Curse from recurring, but Snape still stubbornly sends her two bottles of the Potions, one large and one small, every now and then.
The larger one is for Daisy, and the smaller one is Sean's errand fee.
Sean readily accepted this, although Snape would always find various reasons and excuses to cover up his behavior and would occasionally mock Sean.
But considering that Little White Flower often gave away Potions to Sean, he felt it wasn't entirely unacceptable.
Today's diluted Nutrient Potion is enough to replenish the young wizards' strength and abilities, and also to make their magic more active.
However, Sean did not tell them his intentions until the end of class.
He always habitually guides beginners to think for themselves. It's fine for him to pose questions and then provide answers, but if the young wizards can think about the questions and then connect them to the answers on their own, that would be a more effective teaching method.
The students in the classroom were exhausted. They looked at Professor Wallop, who had also been exercising for a whole class but was only slightly flushed. They felt a mixture of envy and admiration, but also a lot of confusion.
Professor Wallop simply had everyone drink a potion that tasted like watered-down milk before class, and then let them exercise and experience the magic for the entire lesson.
get out of class is almost over, isn't he going to say anything?
Sean looked around at everyone in the classroom, hoping someone would step forward.
Someone couldn't hold back any longer and stood up to ask, "Professor, you still haven't told us the significance of doing this?"
Upon hearing their classmates' questions, several top students in the class, such as Fiora and Campbell Axston, all sighed inwardly.
Professor Wallop said class was over but he didn't leave. Isn't that hoping we'll figure out his intentions?
The proud and arrogant Fiora even resented the classmate who had just stood up to ask a question. She didn't have many ideas yet, but Professor Wallop hadn't left. Wasn't that giving her plenty of time?
Now that you've asked, the professor has no choice but to answer.
"Ugh—ugh—ugh—, having class with an idiot has caused this kind of trouble. Will this lower my standing in Professor Wallop's eyes?" Fiora thought, feeling both annoyed and angry.
Sean didn't answer immediately. He glanced at everyone, his expectation evident in his eyes.
Finally, a student raised his hand and stood up.
The other student was also a good performer in Transfiguration. The boy hesitated and replied, "Professor, are you training our bodies so that we can go deeper when casting spells? The water we drink before class seems to have Nutrient Potion in it—my family has a Potions workshop, and I've smelled Nutrient Potion many times."
Sean smiled and gestured for the other person to sit down, "It is indeed Nutrient Potion. After all, we can't let you exercise and ruin your health, can we? However, your guess is not entirely accurate. Physical exercise can indeed enhance a wizard's various qualities, but that should be something you consciously and actively do, not something you waste a Transfiguration."
He glanced at everyone again. "Are there any other answers?"
"Professor..." A hand was raised.
Campbell Axston, the consistently high-achieving boy, raised his hand. He and Fiora were Sean's two most promising students, known for their sharp minds and talent.
"Please speak, Mr. Campbell."
Axston thought for a moment, then said somewhat uncertainly, "Professor, you've been having us feel magic, feel the changes in magic, and you've also mentioned focusing our attention, which is the key to Transfiguration —is this a method for training Transfiguration?"
As he spoke, he seemed to want to explain in more detail, appearing somewhat flustered. "What I mean is, not in a general sense like practicing Transfiguration, but a specific method for training how to concentrate and sense magic?"
Sean clapped and laughed, "Great feeling, five points for Ravenclaw."
Axston showed a surprised expression, his face Blast-Ended Skrewt red, whether from exercise or excitement, he sat down.
Fiora looked at Axston with envy, and after mentally grumbling about the student who had asked the question first, she listened intently to Sean's explanation.
"As we all know, Transfiguration requires us to concentrate on sketching the object of the Transfiguration in our minds, while steadily channeling magic. This is the foundation of a successful Transfiguration."
"But after studying for so long, you know that clearly feeling the magic within your body is not an easy thing—to make an inappropriate analogy, the magic is like cream flowing through your body, but you can't taste the sweetness, you can only vaguely feel a sticky and fluid sensation."
Upon hearing this, the students recalled that, just as Professor Wallop had said, feeling magic was not easy.
Some astute students have already noticed their own difference, and they are feeling the magic more clearly than ever before.
Sean noticed the group and smiled slightly, "Because of magic, wizards are much stronger than Muggle. Conversely, a wizard's physical condition also affects their magic. When you are engaged in strenuous exercise, your magic will become more active as your body is more exhausted. I believe that if you close your eyes and feel it and recall it, you will definitely find the difference from the past."
The students obediently closed their eyes, and then all showed expressions of surprise.
Sean continued, "That's why I had you focus your attention on feeling the magic in a specific part of your body, and as for the effect..."
"Ha, it's always better to hear me than to try it yourself—Miss Fiora, I think you've almost recovered?"
The young girl quickly stood up and tried to keep her slightly breathless voice steady. "Yes, Professor."
Sean pulled out a small white mouse. "Oh—I remember you're a little afraid of mice?"
Fiora instinctively took a step back, then forced herself to look at Sean: "It's alright, Professor, I can accept it now."
"Don't panic—fear isn't a big deal." Sean smiled gently. "I remember you always had problems with the rat Transfiguration because your attention was always distracted by fear."
Fiora pursed her lips, and finally nodded with a wronged expression.
Her Transfiguration is no less than Axston's, but this rat... many people can already turn a rat into a snuffbox completely, and a top student like Axston can even turn it into all sorts of beautiful patterns.
Only she had a rat's tail on the snuffbox she conjured up.
But this darn little animal is taking up too much of my attention!
Sean released the mouse. "Demonstrate your Transfiguration in your most focused state."
Without hesitation, Fiora took a deep breath, pulled out her wand, and pointed it at the rat.
The fear hadn't dissipated; it continued to distract her.
But Fiora was surprised to find that although she couldn't concentrate when sketching the image, her magic responded faster, and because she could feel the magic more clearly, she even had a feeling of controlling it as if it were her own arm.
She quickly calmed herself down from her surprise and excitement, and then activated her Transfiguration.
An exquisite snuffbox appeared, adorned with intricate patterns, but without a rat's tail.
Fiora looked at Sean excitedly. "Professor! I did it!"
"Beautiful Transfiguration, two points for Gryffindor," Sean praised.
Everyone knew Fiora was afraid of mice, so the girl's success this time made everyone chatter.
"Yes, just as you can see—frankly, I'm puzzled. This is a Transfiguration classroom, so why doesn't any of you think about trying Transfiguration?"
Upon hearing this, everyone sprang into action, taking out matches, silver needles, and other items to experiment with the Transfiguration.
"Hey, it's easier now?"
"Not only that, it's much easier now. Before, when I was sketching the objects to Transfiguration, I had to keep my attention focused the whole time, which caused my magic output to fall behind. But this time, I was able to keep up!"
"Look, the pattern! I've never been able to conjure this up before!"
The students were excited to find that their mastery of Transfiguration had significantly improved.
Only then did they truly understand Sean's intentions.
Sean watched this scene, and this was an experience he had come up with himself: the clearer one's perception of magic, the better one's grasp of spells.
Moreover, the weaker the Magic Power Source, the better the training effect.
He let the excited students make noise for a while, then gestured for them to quiet down. "Did you all feel it?"
"Yes, Professor!" the students shouted in unison.
"That's good. At least my course wasn't a waste of time. This is the second to last class of the semester. The last class will be taught by Professor McGonagall herself. Study hard; she's a true Transfiguration Master. Also, promise me you won't embarrass me in front of the professor, okay?"
"Oh, right—I mentioned that the best student in my class gets a reward, Mr. Campbell."
Campbell Axston, whose name was called, stood up amidst the envious glances of the others.
"Transfiguration Solidification Potion." Sean took out a box containing ten bottles of clear liquid.
This is a product of Dumbledore's fake Philosopher's Stone, perfect for early training in Transfiguration.
Axston excitedly accepted it; this was the first prize he'd ever won, but Fiora had taken it, and he'd been envious for a long time.
"Each bottle can be used ten times, as you see fit. In addition, I'll give you one of my self-created spells."
A self-created spell... Campbell took the parchment in a daze, feeling as if he had been hit by a pie.
"Practice hard." Sean smiled, patted the other person on the shoulder, and then walked out of the classroom.
The classroom suddenly became noisy.
"Axston, potion, can I have a bottle?! I'll trade you Potions for it!"
"I'll release a limited edition Wizarding Chess set!"
"I have Quidditch commemorative autographed jersey!"
Fiora only approached Axston after everyone had calmed down.
"I've had that," the proud little girl said.
The boy nodded. "Yes, the professor praised you for being very capable."
Fiora gritted her teeth. This guy was so smart in class, how come he's become so stupid now?
"What I mean is, I have used it and felt the effects, and the professor also said to take it according to your own needs. I can tell you my experience."
"Is that alright?" Axston was flattered.
Fiora crossed her arms. "Of course."
"Then—I'll give you a bottle?"
The little girl immediately became angry. "Did I do this for?! Besides, I drank it!"
"Ah, oh, I'm sorry..." Axston quickly apologized.
"Hmph!" Fiora glared at him. "I mean, it's almost holiday time. You're from the Muggle Family, right? Don't you have something called a telephone where you live?"
Yes, yes.
"Your home phone number," Fiora said, spreading her hands.
