Background / History

The sect was founded by Ren Xiaoyao. During its early era, it grew toward becoming a top-tier or even super-tier sect, at one point possessing more than ten thousand spirit peaks and tens of millions of disciples. After Ren Xiaoyao and Xu Youmeng disappeared, the sect's conflict with the Myriad Flowers Holy Land and subsequent pressure from other forces sent it into decline. Its territory was seized, its resources were divided, and it was forced into a remote region. Talented disciples repeatedly died in apparent “accidents,” leaving the inheritance close to extinction. 581 582

By the time Lin Fan became Sect Master, the Moon Embracing Sect had only eight disciples—including Lin Fan—and five Fourth Realm elders: Su Xinghai, Wu Xingyun, Li Changshou, Chen Erzhu, and Duan Qingyao. The Bright Moon Sect, its historical rival, had taken most of its old territory and had grown to more than twice the sect's former peak strength. 3 162 582

Its recovery began when Lin Fan devoted the sect's remaining resources to Xiao Ling'er, whose alchemy talent and use of the Earth Core Demonic Fire brought major opportunities.
