Background / History
The sect was founded by Ren Xiaoyao. During its early era, it grew toward becoming a top-tier or even super-tier sect, at one point possessing more than ten thousand spirit peaks and tens of millions of disciples. After Ren Xiaoyao and Xu Youmeng disappeared, the sect's conflict with the Myriad Flowers Holy Land and subsequent pressure from other forces sent it into decline. Its territory was seized, its resources were divided, and it was forced into a remote region. Talented disciples repeatedly died in apparent “accidents,” leaving the inheritance close to extinction. 581 582
By the time Lin Fan became Sect Master, the Moon Embracing Sect had only eight disciples—including Lin Fan—and five Fourth Realm elders: Su Xinghai, Wu Xingyun, Li Changshou, Chen Erzhu, and Duan Qingyao. The Bright Moon Sect, its historical rival, had taken most of its old territory and had grown to more than twice the sect's former peak strength. 3 162 582
Its recovery began when Lin Fan devoted the sect's remaining resources to Xiao Ling'er, whose alchemy talent and use of the Earth Core Demonic Fire brought major opportunities. Following her victory in an alchemy competition, the sect allied with the Liu Family and survived the joint attack of the Peach Blossom, Golden Eagle, and Eight Swords Sects. 13 59 242 582
The sect subsequently expanded its territory, attracted exceptional disciples, and absorbed several allied or former rival organizations as internal lineages. Its rise culminated in the defeat and incorporation of the Bright Moon Sect, allowing it to reclaim and exceed its former standing. 312 313 328

Immortal Martial Continent

Immortal Realm Mountain Gate
After ascension, the sect establishes a new mountain gate on a desolate mountain with the potential to become a Blessed Cave. The completed site contains 99 spirit mountains surrounding the main peak, while the Moon Embracing Palace occupies the “slanting moon” position within a “Three Stars Cave” design. Its architecture retains a black-and-gold palette. 473
Resources and Techniques
- Moon Swallowing Immortal Art — Cultivated by all five elders, substantially raising their cultivation and combat power. 160 178

Culture and Reputation
The sect is known for sharing benefits, protecting its members, and allowing disciples to develop independently. Xiao Ling'er characterizes it as a place with comparatively little internal scheming, power struggle, or greed; members face danger together and distribute benefits collectively. 400
Its disciples receive unusually strong material support. Though its historical foundation was weaker than a Holy Land's, its per-capita resources eventually surpassed those of major Holy Lands. 379
Lin Fan rejects external promotion to “super-first-class sect” status, insisting that the sect should not be defined by outside evaluations. 338
The sect develops a reputation as a disruptive “troublemaker” among neighboring powers, prompting sects such as Azure Water Pavilion to seek protection through the Hongwu Immortal Alliance. 178 180
