Background & History
Wang Teng was the young sect master of Jade Kirin Palace before approaching the Moon Embracing Sect to seek the Great Sun Burning Heaven technique. He lowered his pride, requested entry as a disciple, swore a Dao Heart Oath to Lin Fan, and accepted the condition that their master-disciple relationship remain undisclosed outside the sect. 81
He devoted himself to studying the Artificial Sun Fist, enduring seventeen secret-chamber explosions in several months and nearly killing himself on three occasions. The danger only reinforced his interest after he recognized the destructive potential of even accidental detonations. 99
While trapped in Great Emperor Luangu’s tomb, Wang Teng refused to inherit Luangu’s Emperor Scripture and its path of repeated defeats. He instead agreed to find a suitable Saint Body successor in exchange for his release; the Ancient Chaos inheritance was eventually passed to the Sword Son. 123 129 145
After obtaining the complete Qilin Art inheritance, Wang Teng was considered a possible case of ancestral Qilin bloodline reversion. He recorded the portions of the art he could comprehend so that the Qilin Art could return to the Moon Embracing Sect’s Scripture Repository. 155
Lin Fan then offered him a choice between another invincible technique and a wholly new cultivation path. Wang Teng chose the latter, becoming the first practitioner of the Elementalist path: a system built around researching, manipulating, and combining elements. 155 He later received the Moon Swallowing Immortal Art, replacing his previously ordinary cultivation method with an Immortal-tier art. 159
Lin Fan sent Wang Teng to the Northern Region with resources and secret techniques, where he joined Qin Yu in the contest for Immortal King Yuanyang’s mansion. There, Wang Teng publicly demonstrated the Artificial Sun Fist and Qilin Law against Blue Blood Daoist, an Eighth Realm opponent. 186 191
After Lin Fan warned him about the Hongwu Immortal Alliance, Wang Teng attempted to persuade his father, Wang Yulin, to leave it. When Wang Yulin’s behavior became suspicious, Wang Teng subdued and sealed his father’s cultivation rather than abandon him. 316
Wang Teng later introduced the pupil-technique prodigy Zuo Yu to Lin Fan and helped bring him into the Moon Embracing Sect. He also accepted the Heavenly Maiden, later identified as the Auspicious Beast Bai Ze, as his own disciple. 321 507
During the Great Qin Heavenly Talent Gathering, Wang Teng demonstrated his cross-realm combat ability, Black Hole Domain, and Artificial Sun Sword. His eventual loss to the Fourteenth Prince made him recognize the need for life-saving methods beyond the Elementalist system. 500 502
By the time of the Moon Embracing Sect’s later campaigns, he could combine Black Hole techniques, positive and negative matter, and Sword Eleven to damage Immortal King-level enemies. His Elementalist research also progressed into an imitation of the Dao of Creation. 632 633 714
Personality
Wang Teng initially possessed great pride in his “Emperor’s Bearing,” but he was pragmatic enough to humble himself and become Lin Fan’s disciple when doing so offered a stronger future than remaining Jade Kirin Palace’s young sect master. 81 155
He is intensely diligent and unusually willing to risk himself in research, especially for the Artificial Sun Fist and the Elementalist path. His growing grasp of that path made him more aware of his own limitations, causing him to become markedly more restrained than before. 99 189
Wang Teng is deeply loyal to Lin Fan and treats his master’s warnings as decisive. He is also blunt and provocative in battle, deliberately aggravating opponents to disrupt their judgment or force them to reveal their methods. 191 316
Abilities & Skills
Artificial Sun Fist
Wang Teng’s signature offensive technique creates and detonates a condensed artificial sun. Its principal threat is not merely the explosion, but the extreme heat released throughout the blast.
- Can reach temperatures exceeding 200 million degrees Celsius, enough to burn through an Upper Grade Dao Soldier fly whisk. 191
- The technique’s extreme heat is difficult to defend against because most cultivators prepare for explosive force rather than sustained temperature. 192
- Initially required substantial preparation and remained unstable; Wang Teng later reduced its formation time to roughly three breaths and extended its duration close to an incense stick. 114 155
- Developed a radiation-heavy variant comparable to a cobalt bomb. 274
- Can be shaped into the Artificial Sun Sword, an energy sword containing a condensed artificial sun. 501 502
Qilin Art and Qilin Law
After acquiring Ximen Qilin’s inheritance, Wang Teng gained the complete Qilin Art and access to Divine Beast techniques associated with the Qilin.
- Kirin Roars to the Heavens manifests a Qilin phantom that can slow and suppress an opponent, affecting even Blue Blood Daoist of the Eighth Realm. 191
- Kirin Stepping on Heaven Steps suppresses enemies while temporarily increasing Wang Teng’s combat strength. 191
- His Qilin Heavenly Diagram can manifest as a Qilin phantom in combat. 191
- His compatibility with the art led others to suspect that his Qilin bloodline had reverted to its ancestral state, though Wang Teng himself could not confirm it. 155
Elementalist Path
Lin Fan established the Elementalist path for Wang Teng after recognizing his aptitude for developing techniques from elemental principles.
- Wang Teng had preliminarily identified and begun using more than thirty elements. 316
- Can manipulate ambient elements to construct nonliving objects, including gold tables, chairs, and even larger structures. 418
- Cannot create elements he does not understand, nor can he create life. 714
- His research has advanced into an imitation of the Dao of Creation, allowing him to “conjure things from the void” within the limits of his elemental knowledge. 714
Black Hole Domain
A defensive spatial technique that creates a localized black hole around Wang Teng.
- At the Tenth Realm, he could collapse the space within a three-zhang radius and remain unharmed at its center. 501
- Devours or distorts incoming attacks, including full-force assaults and soul attacks from a Twelfth Realm opponent. 501
- Can be combined with offensive techniques, including the Artificial Sun Sword and Black Hole Fist. 501 632
- Wang Teng initially used battles to test the Domain’s upper limit, which he had not yet fully determined. 501
Positive and Negative Matter Techniques
Wang Teng developed attacks based on the collision of positive matter and antimatter.
- Black Hole Fist and Sword Eleven can be used together against stronger enemies. 632
- His positive-and-negative-matter Sword Eleven uses a black-hole edge to pierce defenses and an internal matter-antimatter collision as its core attack. 633
- When supplied by the Myriad Rivers Returning to the Sea Great Formation, this combination can maintain near-continuous output against Immortal King-level enemies. 633
Art of a Thousand Transformations
Wang Teng possesses an advanced transformation technique used for disguise and infiltration.
- Can assume radically different appearances, including a woman’s form. 123
- His transformation was refined enough that Luangu’s remnant soul, despite retaining immortal energy, could not see through it. 123
- Used the technique to disguise himself while traveling to the Northern Region. 189
Artifact Refining
Wang Teng has made progress in artifact refinement alongside his cultivation research. 274
- Uses a Barrett magical artifact to target enemies at range. 332

Trivia
- Wang Teng’s secret-chamber research into the Artificial Sun Fist caused seventeen explosions, three of which nearly killed him. 99
- He prefers the Moon Embracing Sect’s standardized robes partly because wearing the same clothes all year means he does not have to decide what to wear. 189
- Although he was not originally a protagonist template, Lin Fan considers him to have broken free from his predetermined fate. 159
