Background / History

The Bright Moon Sect was originally suppressed by the Moon Embracing Sect for many years. When the Moon Embracing Sect declined because its generations of disciples failed to succeed one another, the Bright Moon Sect expanded into most of its former territory. By that point, it occupied over 20,000 Spirit Mountains and was stated to be more than twice as powerful as the Moon Embracing Sect had been at its peak. 3

It became one of the Southwest Region's leading first-rate sects, but retained deep hostility toward the resurging Moon Embracing Sect. Its elders regarded the latter's rise—particularly Xiao Ling'er's emergence—as a threat that should be eliminated before it could grow further. 113 237

The sect accepted affiliated forces such as the Jiang and Chen Families after they swore Heavenly Dao and Dao Heart Oaths and paid tribute. These families sought Bright Moon Sect backing for action against the Moon Embracing Sect and the Liu Family. 113

Conflict with the Moon Embracing Sect

The Bright Moon Sect joined the Ximen and Zhou Families in issuing a statement that deterred prospective disciples from entering the Moon Embracing Sect. Despite this pressure, the Moon Embracing Sect still received 357 disciples, including twenty with talent above Heaven Tier. 146

As the Moon Embracing Sect expanded, the Bright Moon Sect viewed it as its greatest enemy and anticipated that it might possess a Ninth Realm ancestor. 237

Recruitment of Lu Ming

Seeking to secure Lu Ming, a young Grandmaster of the Dao of Alchemy, the Bright Moon Sect offered ten million high-grade Origin Stones, unrestricted access to its cultivation methods and resources, authority over its personnel, and the Special Elder position. 161

Siege and Surrender

After the Pill Tower joined the Moon Embracing Sect, the Blazing Sun Divine Palace, Star Sea Alliance, and Shadow Demon Palace formed an alliance to destroy the Bright Moon Sect. 308

Facing overwhelming numbers and the collapse of its defensive formations, the Bright Moon Sect's disciples voted to seek survival by pledging allegiance to the Moon Embracing Sect. Lu Ming delayed the enemy while arranging contact with Lin Fan. 311

The Moon Embracing Sect and its allies arrived, defeated the attacking alliance, and preserved the Bright Moon Sect. Lin Fan then accepted its surrender rather than annihilating it. 311 312

Bright Moon Lineage

The former Bright Moon Sect became the Bright Moon Lineage of the Moon Embracing Sect. Its higher-realm members swore Heavenly Dao Oaths, while lower-realm members were bound by Dao Heart Oaths not to betray or harm the sect. 312

Lu Ming negotiated monthly allowances and high-quality pills for the lineage, helping its elders and disciples accept their new identity. The lineage retained relative autonomy and later became a major conventional-cultivation branch with more than ten million inner and outer disciples. 313 466
