Kayson felt a little regretful. He rather enjoyed listening to music, but now he could only leave the office and begin roaming the castle at night like a student.
It was just a pity that Filch did not catch professors when he went after students out after curfew, depriving him of the fun of matching wits with him.
Along the way, Kayson considered using a torch, but then he remembered that other wizards all used that proper sort of light source, something called... Lumos, perhaps.
Then he looked at his pixelated flaming torch. No matter how he looked at it, it seemed to lack a little style. After thinking for a moment, he directly summoned a glowstone block that floated around him.
Now that looked much more stylish.
Kayson made his way to the library. Compared to daytime, it lacked its usual liveliness, but without Madam Pince's hawk-like gaze, it was quite pleasant.
The glowstone circled around him as he headed toward the Restricted Section. After all, he had gotten into the University of Manchester on his own merits, so his learning ability was certainly not poor. Ordinary alchemy books had already stopped satisfying him during this time.
Of course, it was also because he was bored out of his mind. Aside from alchemy, he could not learn any other magic!
Only alchemy complemented his abilities perfectly. Honestly, if he could not replicate most of the magic taught at Hogwarts with blocks, he would have lost patience long ago.
Then again, perhaps not. Maybe once he raised enough favorability in the future, he could directly unlock a mod for himself, or even a Command Block. At that point...
Heh heh heh!
"Who's there?" An old, raspy voice came from afar. On closer listening, it even seemed to tremble slightly.
"It's me, Kayson Heath, the Alchemy professor. You're Mr. Filch, correct?" Kayson waved his hand, causing the glowstone block to fly before his chest and illuminate his face.
"So it's Professor Heath. Please do not laugh so frighteningly in the future," Filch said dryly.
"I'll keep that in mind. Did I interrupt your work?"
Kayson asked politely.
"It's nothing." Carrying a dim lantern, Filch rounded row after row of bookshelves before finally appearing before Kayson.
"I only came to confirm that you really were a professor. Some mischievous little wizards imitate professors' voices to fool me. As long as I confirm that you're genuine, there's no problem."
"Your work is hard." Kayson nodded, then noticed Filch's rather dim lantern. Rubbing his fingers together, he produced an exquisite wrought-iron lantern in his hand.
"This is our first private meeting. Perhaps this can serve as a greeting gift. It's an alchemical creation that will keep shining like this without any fuel."
"Oh... Is this for me? You're not making fun of me?" Filch looked at the brand-new lantern right before him. It was even a precious alchemical creation, and he asked in disbelief.
"Has someone been making fun of you?" Kayson frowned.
"Too many to count. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin... Those mischievous little wizards have always been like that. A candy that looks delicious can make your lips swell for a week, and a glittering little trinket can discharge electricity. There are too many," Filch said casually, putting on an indifferent expression.
"You should speak with their respective Heads of House. And I have no intention of making fun of you." As he spoke, Kayson handed the lantern to Filch.
"Oh... Thank you, Professor."

Looking at the string of positive emotions that appeared before him, Kayson did not know what to say.
Filch might not lack food or clothing, but he clearly was not treated equally. A single lantern had triggered such a chain of positive emotions.
He was a pitiful man.
"Professor, are you here to catch students out after curfew?" Filch asked.
"Uh, no. I came to read. I couldn't sleep tonight." Kayson shook his head.
"Then I won't disturb you. I haven't seen you before, Professor. You must be a very outstanding wizard. If you want to know about any strange rooms in this castle, or secret passages and the like, please feel free to ask me."
"I will. Thank you."
"Mm..." Filch left the library carrying his brand-new lantern. Watching his back, Kayson felt that even his gait looked a little younger.
"...Mr. Filch, perhaps you should buy a Sneakoscope. It can help you avoid mischievous little wizards' pranks, and keep you from overlooking the goodwill of other students."
After thinking it over, Kayson spoke up to remind him.
"I will, Professor."
After reading a book called "Forbidden Alchemy" in the library's Restricted Section for a while, Kayson had to say that its alchemy was not particularly advanced in a strict sense, but the things inside were rather wicked.
The most wicked of all was Flesh Alchemy, such as fusing flesh and blood into alchemical creations. Forty thousand years in the future, this would probably be called wetware.
But that was merely a passing brainstorm for Kayson. What truly caught his attention was another passage.
It said that alchemical creations could be fused into flesh and blood, allowing one to gain the abilities of those creations.
He truly needed that, and the amount of work involved was not great.
As for his other blocks, such as explosive TNT, they barely looked like TNT anymore. They only looked like glowing blocks, and when he encountered an enemy, he could simply control them and send them flying over.
Or the Wither Skeleton Skull, which he could likewise directly control and send flying.
In his mind, these two blocks were comparable to Dark Magic. Their methods of attack were not much different from ordinary Dark Magic, and they were exceptionally useful against enemies.
There was no disadvantage in using his other blocks compared with spells either.
There was only one thing he truly needed to fuse into his flesh and blood: the Ender Pearl.
He had to throw that thing out and let it shatter before it could teleport him. During the process of making it shatter, it could easily be interrupted. Being interrupted by an obstacle would be fine, but if it were interrupted by a Killing Curse...
Wouldn't that just be teleporting straight to his grave?
So if the book before him could let him fuse with an Ender Pearl and teleport freely to any location like an Enderman...
That was practically the Apparition taught at Hogwarts. Not only would there be no danger of Splinching, but it would not be restricted by Anti-Apparition spells.
That would be perfect.
